Ben Kingsley As Mandarin?! Discuss.

Ben Kingsley seems to be doing a fine job. I really couldn't give a flip if an actor is the right race or not if they're putting on a good performance. Complaining that he's not Asian is just nitpicking, pure and simple.

I only think that people think it's nitpicking because they aren't as familiar with the character as me or another Iron Man fan is. Mandarin is Iron Man's archnemesis, so to a fan like myself, he's a BIG part of the Iron Man mythos.

If this were Superman, Batman, or Wolverine getting casted as another race than their source material, this would be a bigger deal to more people.

You already said the preview looked awesome. You have a great actor cast as the villain. I fail to see how complaining about his race is not nitpicking. Kingsley has played asians before anyway. Are you saying he's good enough to be Gandhi but not good enough to be Mandarin?

Indian and Chinese look far different. I'm not saying he isn't good enough to play the part at all, I'm just saying he doesn't look the part.

I'm sure the story and the dialogue will be fine with Kingsley playing the part. I just want the movie to reflect the comic books, especially with a character as vital to the Iron Man mythos as Mandarin is.
