MrPopo wrote:True, but a tablet is also a multifunction device. You can see the guides for every game, instead of $20-30 per. It works as a nice web device when you're on the couch; laptops seem horribly clunky for that purpose once you've used a tablet. It's definitely an investment that has a high up-front cost, though.

I totally agree it's worth the price in the long term and it's much more functional. I picked up the ASUS Transformer Prime and never looked back it's so easy for quickly looking at guides compared to a laptop. :)

I haven't been buying Nintendo Power for awhile since the recent changes the magazine has had over the years. However, I will miss Nintendo Power as it was a huge part of my childhood growing up like many others. I still have a bunch of issues in boxes that I kept over the years at least.

Kind of a bummer. I haven't subscribed to them in years but it's one of those things that you always take for granted as being there.

The rational part of my brain says that the Internet has more to offer than Nintendo Power ever could but the nostalgic part still feels the loss.

If it ends in Dec. then I lose out on 6 issues of my from my year subscription. I am upset. I am sad. I hope I get compensated in some way but I still hate that it is ending.

You know what would be cool? If you are a subscriber you get something cool like a nester figurine with the last issue or something.

I've been here before, when Wizard Magazine for Comics folded. They'll tell you can you finish out your subscription with another magazine. For me, there was nothing else they offered that I wanted, but they wouldn't refund my money. So my wife got a few issues of Cosmopolitan for free (except Cosmo was $3.99 a piece newsstand, while Wizard was $5.99 a piece newsstand, so not exactly even there).

I think my subscription was almost up or close to it. Good timing for me.

I do have some digital subscriptions that I could read on the PC or my iPad but truth be told, I almost never looked at them. Not sure why. I guess I tend to prefer print since it's easier to read anywhere. Reading on an iPad while my wife is driving the car is not as convenient with a hard copy.

Nintendo can confirm that Future US will end the production of Nintendo Power magazine with the last issue slated for December 2012.

If … your subscription extends past the final December 2012 issue, you will receive a refund or credit card credit of the remaining value of your subscription. If you reside in the US or Canada, your refund will arrive within 4–6 weeks after the December 2012 issue; for customers outside the US and Canada, your refund will arrive 6–10 weeks after the December 2012 issue.

It's sad to see it go yet I knew it would happen. I remember getting it from my childhood. I stop getting it a couple of times then went along and got it again. I still wish I kept my older ones but they were thrown out years ago. It's like saying good-bye to an old friend but yet you knew it was going to end. I haven't picked up a copy in years due to the internet but I think I'll pick up the last copy just for old times.

It is sad to see it end but it was expected. Just like any other paper publication, sooner or later they will stop. I have to be honest and say that I have never purchased a copy of the magazine :|

I am a book hoarder but never really got into VG magazines much. I did purchase few PSM and Game Informer in my day though.
It's time to kick a$$ and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum.
