That makes me very excited and happy to hear! Thanks for the info.
No prob! HeartGold and SoulSilver has practically ever major feature in Crystal and so much more. It is definitely worth the money.

I disagree with this. My father plays Pokémon and he's close to 60 years old.
Lucky, my Dad fell asleep when he took me to the first pokemon movie. It's not for everyone. It's for sure more fun to play when you know the pokemon.

I'm an original 151 person. I knew them all. After that I moved on and didn't watch the show, or play with the cards.

I went on to play silver/gold and later versions, but I still find myself liking Blue/Red the best because I knew the Pokemon best in that one. It will be grinder if he doesn't know much about the Pokemon in general. We had it made because for half of us had a lot of Pokemon exposure growing up.

Exactly. Pokemon was way more prevalent back then than it was now, not even just the fact that we had more exposure due to our age but just because of time too. Back then all the time I would see kids on their gameboy's with different colored carts in playing pokemon. The show was really hot back then too, and now stuff from the east isn't a "thing" as it was late 90's early 00's. I mean think about it, video games, tamagotchi things, anime, manga, etc. were all pretty big. I personally think that the success of an american console signaled a new era, and that lead to apple, and their domination of the handheld market. Now, instead of gameboy's playing tetris and pokemon, you see kids on their i-whatevers playing angry birds and going on facebook and such, with such extreme prices that it would shock us that we would own such expensive devices at that age, and of course M rated games that don't receive as much exposure in the press anymore as being bad for kids (obviously the affects were exaggerated but kids really shouldn't be allowed to play CoD at the age of 5).

I'm not going all old grandpa saying we had it better or something, but just saddened they won't get near the deep experience we had from pokemon (not saying pokemon is very deep, but rather how shallow those 99 cent apps are).

BTW, I still to this day own the card you got from the theater for watching the first movie.

You will be surprised that around the world some stuff pick ups and other places it will die. Orkut Google's social networking is huge Brazil, ICQ is used a lot in east Europe I believe, and RealPlayer is still going strong in China last I heard!!

Same goes for video games, I don't know if you know this, but I think not 1 single copy of NFL games are sold outside the US.

1) Nothing is released here, everything is imported... everything. Only some years ago I learned that electric plugs are region specific, I always wondered why some chose to have 3-pins , 2 pins, and other weird shapes. For example, if I wanted to buy a ps3 I order it form Amazon. If I pick it from a local shop, the local shop has either bought it off amazon, or made a purchase order from USA supplier . We have no guarantees , you have only the shop's guarantee. But we are supposed to be a PAL region.

2) Pokemon series didn't pickup here at all. If it was released at 1996, I was a kid back then, I didn't know about it. We just here "pokemon pokemon" but it didn't pickup. I think some kids started to watch the tv show around 99-2000 , but thats about it. I guess most people are not sure if Pickachu is the yellow thing or the human being, even i am not sure.

Well that last part didn't surprise me, it's an american franchise, but that's some good info to know. Thanks.

Crystal version without a doubt. The thing I like about the second generation is that it still isn't overtly complicated with natures, abilities and berries galore. IVs and EVs didn't play a huge part in the Gold and Silver era. 251 pokes seem easier to deal with also IMO.

For all intents and purposes go with either Gold, Silver or Crystal. Its perfect for starters, brimming with content and will keep you entertained. Hint: grind up for Whitney the third gym. Bitch will destroy your team if you haven't trained them and happen to be males.
