In my mind, there's two stages to a console's death. The first is when the system goes out of print, and the second is when games are no longer released for it.

Pshh, a Vectrex emulator/facsimile on a tablet is nothing. You want evidence the Vectrex is still alive, you've got this guy: http://www.kristofsnewvectrexgames.comli.com/index.htm

Wii, DS, and PSP are all dying right now. They don't even make PSP anymore (though it still gets the occasional random JRPG release), and DS and Wii aren't getting any new worthwhile releases. I expect they'll all be gone from retailer's shelves by this point next year.

360 and PS3 are still going strong. I'm confident they've each got another solid year left in them.

I'm probably wrong with this one but I believe Nintendo stop making the DSi XL and all they are making is the standard DSi. They dropped the price a few months back to $99 and released two colors, red and blue.

I think you're right. I haven't seen an XL in stock anywhere since February.

Now that I think about it I really haven't seen one myself in a few months. Same with PSP for sure.

But I did see a few DS Lites about 3 or 4 months ago at my local target. Only metallic rose was available.

I've seen DSi XL's in stores, but they're not as many available as the DSi's, which is odd because the DSi XL's came out later so you'd think there would be more of those systems as opposed to the DSi's. And yes, there are only the matte red and matte blue color options available in the retail stores. Other colors are available for the DSi's, but only online as far as I know. What surprised me was that the matte blue color was not quite as blue as I thought, but a bit more turquoise...

when I got the matte blue DSi for my birthday 12 days ago. I'll explain it in the Look What I Found thread within the next week or so, along with other :goodies:...

If they ceased manufacturing of XLs before regular DSi's, it makes perfect sense that they would run out first. It also makes sense that they would discontinue the XL first, since it catered more to the "hardcore" crowd, the types that sit at home and play portables in their easy chair (me)... but also probably moved over to the 3DS earlier than most other people.
