Agree, but since load speed issues were brought up, just pointing out the PS2 has the advantage if one has the simple add ons

@CDAGes

I actually want to confirm on one thing. I always thought that the gamecube versions were only running at 30fps for cutscenes, while only Dreamcast version of RE2 is the only game that runs at 60fps. Going back to RE3, can we pretty much say that GC version is slightly better than Dreamcast visually? Content is debatable IMO because you're simply missing two costumes, while other extras can be easily unlocked.

I will check this and report on it.

Not exactly. Sure, the GCN version has it beat visually when CG cut scenes are concerned, but it can't say the same when it comes to the in game graphics. GCN version does not support Component 480p! look at it this way, About 10% of the games visuals are represented thru CG graphics while the remaining % is polygonal based graphics (with pre rendered backdrops) that DC version can indeed display at 640x480 enhanced resolution. It's a matter of preference what an individual finds more important (i prefer 480p support over a few cut scenes being displayed at 60fps!).

I like the crazy selection of costumes for Jill and the 2 DC exclusives are a nice bonus. You may also be forgetting that the DC version has a wonderful VMU feature that keeps track of your Ammo count and Health status!

Indeed, a super useful way to track health without having to go to the inventory screen.

OK, so i went to my cousins house to check up on this (they have every RE title on the GCN, i don't).

What caught me by surprise before even starting the game was that both Claire and Leon campaigns are on one optical disc! i did not know this.
Anywho, I began looking at the CG Cut scenes and something looked off to me for some reason. I wasn't sure what it was as i couldn't be for certain as i was playing the game on their setup (GCN is hooked up via Composite on a 32' LCD TV :? ). I was afraid their setup was compromising my observations.

So i borrowed it to check on one of my setups. 30' CRT with my GCN hooked up via S-vid. I also hooked up my DC on the same TV via S-vid to compare both on an even play field.
Looks like the cinematics on GCN do run at a "fairly" smooth 60fps. I then started up the DC version to cross check. Holy shit! the difference in the cinemas is very noticeable! GCN's looks pretty shitty compared to how they look on DC. On GCN, they look blurry, washed out and the sound quality is not up to par compared to the DC version. Perhaps its got something to do with packing both characters on one optical disc???

It looks like the DC version of RE 2 is still the one to get if you ask me (which reminds me, i need to buy the N64 port considering its exclusive content and miraculous release lol!).

Here are other details i was able to get while playing both versions.
DC version has a custom "key config" setup while the GCN doesn't. The latter provides you only 3 preset types of "key config" setups. Latter also provides you with an "auto aim" feature the former does not.
Another thing that really turned me off to the GCN version, is how the music for a particular area kicks in before doors are opened. For some reason, it really kills the game for me. I first noticed this as got to the police station for the first time. i'm used to hearing that awesome theme after the doors are opened and not before it. Its such a buzz kill for me

I was a little confused because I was reading an in depth analysis and the guy who wrote it said RE3 for gamecube actually fixes some of the issues other versions had like clipping in character models. As far as character model goes, Gamecube actually has slightly better graphics as well. He even noticed that some of the backgrounds have been redrawn.

RE2 DC is better than RE2 Gamecube, no contest. I burned a copy of the DC version and had both running at once, switching back and forth with a switchbox. DC's cutscenes are better, it has extras, etc. Pretty much all of the reasons everyone else has stated. It's a grade A port.

Resident Evil 3 definitely looks better on Gamecube, though. Dreamcast still has that weird Ps1 'twitch' to the models that the Gamecube manages to get rid of. Dreamcast has the costumes though, I don't know if that's an exclusive feature or if you can simply unlock them on the Gamecube one.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition PS3 = Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition 360 > Resident Evil 5 360 > Resident Evil 5 PS3

Better? I know for sure PS3 version is slightly inferior to the 360, but I guess the move support and being on one disc really makes it a little better for its gold edition.

Alright, this is very odd now. I actually got a copy of RE3 for the dreamcast to compare with my gamecube game. I've asked may people about what GC version can do and they told me that it CAN render at 480p compressed and they actually feel the background for GC version is actually better too. About the only thing that prevents GC version from being perfect is the quality of the cut scenes (dreamcast had cutscenes that looked overblown), the two extra costumes, and vmu support. In the end, both dreamcast and gamecube and their pros and cons, so you really can't go wrong with either version.
