My biggest advice is that all the attacks by the computer are heavily scripted. You never have to worry about them throwing their whole army against you (with one exception) like you would online, so it's very possible to set up your base defenses so that you can sit back and build up the necessary army.
Also, learn the power of unit effectiveness. If you're working with anything smaller than a horde you will run afoul of just how poorly a particular weapon does against a particular target.

Installed the fan patch and the weird color registry patch. Played the first few missions. Not sure if I'll play NOD all the way through but definitely going to get through GDI.

I like GDI mission 6

Whoever said it was scripted was right, 2 ways into this base and they were all stacked towards one side of it... it's gonna be too late for them to stop me

Never attack the enemies harvester. I found out the hard way that that makes their whole army come at you. Sending an engineer into their refinery whilst the harvester is unloading is a good idea though.

So far I've been using the grenadier rush tactic. Works pretty well.

Yup, that's the exception to their general policy of only sending a few units at a time to test your defenses.alienjesus wrote:Never attack the enemies harvester. I found out the hard way that that makes their whole army come at you.

Re: Together Retro: Command & Conquer
That is correct, NEVER attack the harvester. The 2nd thing was exactly what I did today while destroying the 2-part base in GDI Mission 7. After capturing the construction yard, Hand of Nod, and the Airfield, clearing out all their forces, I built an engineer and had him make the trip across the map and he got in just as their harvester was unloading. 2 streams of income is always nice.alienjesus wrote:Never attack the enemies harvester. Now I get to GDI Mission 8, which I will not spoil, but this is where Nod's **** gets real with their newest, deadly structure. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT

If you think it's bad in mission 9 (not
then just wait until you get to mission 12.
You actually can get away with killing the harvester in later levels when your base defenses become strong enough to handle the reprisal you'll get.

There is a download for 64 bit PCs here. Hope it helps.
^This worked! Thank you.
Now... I have no fucking clue what's going on. Can someone give me some idea of what I'm supposed to do haha.

The first GDI level should act as a tutorial. Did you start with NOD?noiseredux wrote:alienjesus wrote:http://www.cncworld.org/?page=features/tutorials/tdfreenoiseredux wrote:just tried to install the GDI disc... was told it's not compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows?

Gamefaqs has some good guides you could use. That's where I get my C&C help when I need a strategy.
