Turbografx or PC Engine?

I feel obligated to post two of those 3 links because I largely wrote them.

There are lots of other good games, and the best way to find out about them is visit some PCE review sites. Or check out the MrGameSack channel on YouTube. They have a couple PC Engine oriented videos.

Of course there were lots of terrible FMV games that related it to gimmick status. Not that 90s Japan didn't have plenty of ridiculous janken or pure luck 'games' with mildly naughty idol videos in between on cd consoles.

Anyway, this is a good place to learn about PCE and TG games. Some have video reviews too.

How did I miss this thread? Oh yeah, the "recent threads" on the Racketboy intro page isn not regularly updated.

At any rate, it doesn't matter this thread shouldn't have even been made. A simple search should have been done which would have led you here:

PC Engine is easily the better investment, but, if you don't have much start up money, a TG-16 would cost about the same for the console and the first dozen or so "standard" games. After those (Bonk 1, Alien Crush, Dungeon Explorer, Blazing Lazers, etc.), get a PC Engine Duo. If you get it region modded, you won't need the TG-16 anymore.

Oh, another quick question: how hard is it to find compatible power supplies, cables, etc and do any of the models support s-video or RGB out of the box?

The model 1 Genesis AV cables and AC adapter will work just fine on any of the three PC Engine base models. You won't get stereo sound from the Genny AV cable, but it will still work fine. If you don't care about having NEC equipment and don't mind using Sega brand instead, you can save a bit on shipping this way.

My guess would be either it [the PC Engine] or the Model 3 Genesis [is the smallest home console.

The PC Engine is smaller than the Genesis 3.
