does Wolf3D on PSN have keyboard support?noiseredux wrote:so I went back and beat Ep1 and got the trophy. The first boss was considerably harder this way haha.noiseredux wrote:so I just beat Ep3... but I was playing on the default (easiest) difficulty which I figured made sense since I'm not well versed in FPS games. However, I found out that you only get trophies for playing on the next difficulty level. And if I'm gonna play my ass through this game I wanna earn those trophies. So I think I'm gonna start over on the next level up.

Re: Together Retro: Wolfenstein 3D
So I started playing the PS3 version last night and I'm quite liking it. The controls are great, the game is simple but fun, it just feels good to kill someone with a single shot and see him turning is head with blood spraying out
My only complaint is the lack of a map, the levels turn confusing pretty soon and I just don't have to patience to either draw a map or try to memorize every corner. I got seriously lost on level 6 and for some time it looked like the only way would be to restart the whole level. At first I was just walking around in circles, then found the door to the exit but didn't have the key, then I found the key but couldn't find my way back to the god damn door! Seriously, I was about to throw my controller, but then I persevered and eventually found the door, and the exit. Still, if I have to face many more levels like this I don't know if I'll have the patience. Which is a shame, because the basis of the gameplay is so much fun I could spend all day just going through a corridor mowing enemies down, don't need exploration to keep me entertained.

yeah I've hit a couple floors like this too. But in context, I've yet to spend more than 15-20 mins wandering around lost. Which is definitely not a big deal compared to when we played Dark Forces and I'd get lost for 45 mins to an hour! So it's not really bothering me too much, though I admit it can be frustrating when so much of the sections look exactly the same so it's easy to not know if you're going in circles.

You guys would love the corridor - event - corridor - cutscene - corridor approach of modern FPSs. A picture I am sure you've seen:noiseredux wrote:NebachadnezzaR wrote:So I started playing the PS3 version last night and I'm quite liking it. In all seriousness, though, I do prefer linear games. I don't have much time to play games so every minute counts, and I hate to waste those precious minutes getting lost :/
Re: Together Retro: Wolfenstein 3D
I must admit it's not very fun to check every single wall tile in the entire level for a secret chamber... but a lot of the fun of Wolfenstein 3D also is to explore the area and figure out where you need to go before you run out of health and die(!) Makes things rather intense.
I often use the dead Nazi soldiers and dogs lying on the ground as markers for where I've been before if that helps.

For those that have access to the Jaguar port, I believe it has an automap iirc.
Older. Not wiser.
