I dont think it would bring in much. Most of the income is from all the amazon and ebay links in the guidesBoringSupreez wrote:Maybe we could have ads in the forums, like Gamefaqs. One banner ad at the top of each board page, but not the annoying expanding kind.

Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
By the sound of things it appears that more sites were affected by stuff at the start of March, so it's possible something is going on. Usually Google algorithm updates are fairly spread out, but it's not out of the question for them to happen in rapid succession. If you guys haven't done anything to change how you're going about SEO on the site or made any major changes to code on your pages, a bad algorithm update is a likely culprit. I'm at a loss as to what else it could possibly be.racketboy wrote:But didn't that update go into effect a couple of months ago?MrNash wrote:Racket Boy could just be getting the short end of the stick on a new Google algorithm update. They happen from time to time, and can be absolutely brutal. Or they can be like winning the lottery as a site's traffic skyrockets. It depends, but it sounds like you got the bad side of the deal.
Check WebMasterWorld. They're usually good about researching these things, and it's spam free as they have a strict rule against users linking to their websites. Here's a couple of links that may be useful:

Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
How can we help? Could we get forum members to just click those daily? Or is it just get money when people buy through the banners? Would it be possible for people to put them in their sigs? I have no clue I'm just trying to spitball ways to help here.
Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
I think RB gets most of its revenue from CPA ads where people buy something on the other end, as opposed to CPM or CPC (cost per impression / cost per click) ads. Probably for the best anyway because CPM and CPC ad rates are pretty low, and the quality of the ads are usually garbage.flex wood wrote:How can we help? Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
Mass pm to all members with the affiliate links asking people to use them as their bookmarks for Amazon and Ebay? I'm not sure if racket would be getting the money that way but it's worth a try. I remember around Christmas that thread pops up with the links. I mean I'm sure a everyone would be willing to help.MrNash wrote:I think RB gets most of its revenue from CPA ads where people buy something on the other end, as opposed to CPM or CPC (cost per impression / cost per click) ads. I don't want it to come to that. Besides, there's no way that would compare to 10,000 strangers clicking on links every month all the time.flex wood wrote:Mass pm to all members with the affiliate links asking people to use them as their bookmarks for Amazon and Ebay? We have 5,000 members or so, and probably only 100 visit daily. It really wouldn't make much difference, as Racketboy said.racketboy wrote:I don't want it to come to that. Got my Sega Master System composite cables, as well as multiple s-video cords (playstation, saturn, SNES).
