Is this a good choice right here? I was seeing a lot of recommendations for Mad Catz and they said this one was mint.
that's the one I had. It sucks it's gone up in price so much though. I feel like that should be a good $50 stick really. But it looks like you got sniped anyway.

The prices on it are very expensive, $85 was fortunate compared to the actual Buy it Now price. I haven't played a joy stick arcade pad in a long time, probably 5-6 years and I'm being optimistic about that. I wish they never closed GameWorks ><

Do you already have an Arcade Fight Stick for another system? If so just get a USB adapter and it should play just fine.
I have used in the past a PS2 adapter and am currently using a Wii to USB adapter with my Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Fight stick (its perfect for MVC3 since TVC has the same button layout) and it is awesome. Plus if you get a USB adapter then you can use that controller on a PC too.

Afraid I don't have any type of Fight stick, to be honest I believe the last fight stick I have is for the original PlayStation 1, and I do have Sega Saturn fight sticks as well =)!!!

The Madcatz SE sticks are pretty nice (I have 2) especially for the casual player that isnt playing on a tournament level. I got one of mine off Craigslist for $40 in box, my other one is the Wii version that I added an adapter to work with the PS3 (I have a thread about it in the hacks section) Those can be had for around $40 shipped last time I checked, I actually prefer the Wii version over the actual ps3 one.

actually it went like this:

me: Great! I'll take it!
GS1: Awesome! I have one too and I love it.
GS2: Me too! I'm surprised it's sat here so long.
me: Yeah I'm excited cuz I thought I'd have to spend a bunch on a stick.
GS1: What fighting games do you play?
me: Oh so far I only have SSF4. But I'll mostly be using this for "space shooters."
GS1: Have you played the new Mortal Kombat?
me: No, is it good?
GS1: if you like the new Street Fighter, you'll like the new MK. It's the same 2D style.
me: Nice! Thanks for the pleasant exchange.
GS1: Sure, have a nice day!
GS2: See ya later, man!
me: bye!
Hahahaha!! I actually have a very good visual of that playing in my head. Especially since I probably am hoping I can put this fight stick to use and play computer games such as Resident Evil with it :D

And mentioning Space Shooters, I am an old school retro gamer, though I don't go that far back, NES with Ghosts N Goblins ( I'd probably have nightmares playing that game with a fightstick, I'd be dying so much with Firebrand laughing at me, the chilling thought of Evil Elmo still sends chills down my spine )

What makes a tournament level fight stick so special? I'm curious if you know.

The tournament Madcatz sticks come with authentic Japanese arcade parts in them, the build quality on the case is very nice and they feel really good to use. The SE sticks use a clone of the same parts in the TE sticks, they feel really good to me, and I had a chance to compare mine to a TE stick and honestly besides the casing the buttons felt the same to me. If you pick up the SE stick cheap enough you can directly drop in the real Sanwa arcade parts as a replacement down the line if you wish.

Just got in today, real lovely looking. As expected, I suck with this thing as I never played a Fight Stick before. So I'm training right now starting with Wesker beating on She-Hulk cause she's big and green so it makes a nerd like me feel like he's having his nerdy fantasies coming true of secret agent men beating on big green cucumber women >.>;;

Well anyways, feels very awkward, feels completely different from the time I used to play the joystick at the arcade which goes to show how long it's been, well namely because the button function is completely different from the other Marvel vs Series ( which might not be a bad idea now that I think about it to play those other games on my PS3 ) buttons are real spread out which I'm not used to as well because normally one hand would normally cover all the buttons for me to do my thing.

Well anyways, here's to giving the arcade stick a chance, looks promising!

You wouldn't think that actual arcade parts would make that much of a difference, but in addition to the arcade quality parts, the higher end sticks are usually just better designed in general.
