It looks like Amazon is out of stock. Ditto for Walmart online. Copies can be found for the normal price on Ebay, Target, and Kmart. Hard to believe that there are some suckers who are willing to pay top dollar but they must exist.Ziggy587 wrote:Why did the price get jacked up to $75 ?
Why does that happen to some games for? I've noticed this happening on Amazon before, but I don't recall any specific games or what time of the year it was. Is it sold out from online retailers do to a Christmas rush so sellers that still have stock jack the price up?

It's called the free market. And although in reality it's no where near as free as they taught us in school, it's still mostly as described and happens often on Amazon when stock is low. I have a large Amazon wishlist of 'maybe' games and watch their prices closely. I too have noticed more titles than usual going out of stock from the big channels this Christmas season, and therefore priced over MSRP from third parties. Mario Kart Wii was $65 when I checked this morning, for instance.

Whenever I see a price like that at Amazon, i've determined their stock is temporarily out. For a couple days they had Orcarina of Time for the 3DS at $54.00 until they were all of sudden back at $39.
Re: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?
Yeah, Kirby went back to $50 yesterday (or sooner?). But I just think it's retarded. What do sellers thing, "Amazon is outa stock! Let's raise our prices, because people only shop at Amazon so they're unlikely to go to X Mart and buy it at regular retail price."
Re: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?
Because sometimes people actually buy it. If Amazon is sold out, maybe other stores are also sold out. Maybe it's easier to overpay a little at Amazon than spend time trying to find it somewhere else. Time is money, supply and demand, etc.Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, Kirby went back to $50 yesterday (or sooner?). But I just think it's retarded. What do sellers thing, "Amazon is outa stock! I recently bought Skyward Sword from a 3rd party Amazon seller, for more than the normal price. I couldn't find it anywhere else and I wanted it right away, so it was worth it to me. I've done the same thing many times before, usually on Ebay. It's not retarded if I understand the situation and decide that it's worth it to me.

You're the one that's always siding with what you think is right, just, fair and whatnot. Amazon was out of stock for a day, maybe less than a day, and 3rd party sellers raised the price of the game by $25. You think that's OK? That sounds more like greed to me. And greed, in my opinion, is one of the biggest problems in this country. Hell, maybe even the world.
For the record, I've overpaid for things before so that I could get it easier and/or sooner. And you're preaching to the choir about "time is money." Honestly, often times time is more valuable to me than money. But that's not what this is about. And even if it were, you'd be an idiot to buy this game for $25 more than regular retail price. Unless you live miles and miles away from anything, pretty much every one is in a 10 mile radius of several stores that have this game in stock. Wal Mart, K Mart, Target etc. Best Buy, PC Richard etc. GameStop, EB Games, Play N Trade etc. It takes two seconds to search a store's website to see if your local location has it in stock, or you could call the store which would take all of 5 minutes. All you have to do is drive there. Not only would you not overpay for it, but you'd get it that day instead of having to wait for it to arrive in the mail.
Don't you have an import copy of Skyward Sword? I remember you saying you had a hard time finding a Japanese copy of the game. So you over payed for an imported game, hardly the same situation here.
Amazon was out of stock for one day, and that's just one retailer, it doesn't fall into the whole supply and demand thing. It's just greed. Don't patronize me.

Re: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?
He bought it from an Amazon third-party seller. I think I remember it was price spiked to almost double its retail value (similar to the US version) because of extreme stock shortages. It was the exact same kind of situation.
I think I remember Amazon being out of stock of Kirby for more than a day. I seem to recall it being a week or two, though I could be wrong (it could have come and go in between the times I checked). In that time it makes sense that stock of the game priced 50-60 could have sold out. In honesty, to someone busy or to someone who makes alot of money it might not be worth it to call around.
With the seller fees and such on Amazon businesses really do need to mark up the price to make a profit. If people were willing to pay 70 for the game to have it on the way RIGHT NOW and not risk/wait for Amazon to come back into stock that's just fine. Honestly the game might be worth 70 to some people.
I buy games almost exclusively from Amazon. There are many like me. It absolutely, without a doubt has a supply and demand flow that goes on.
I tried shopping at BestBuy online during Black Friday and that has been the second worst online purchasing experience I have ever had. I am STILL working that bullshit out. I have spent hours on the phone with those liars and idiots. It definitely would have been worth it to just buy DKCR from Amazon for DOUBLE the price (still below MSRP). I have wasted so much time on their screw ups.
Also, I don't think Inazuma was patronizing you.

Re: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?
If some one makes enough money and is too busy to take the 5-10 minutes to check other locations other than Amazon, then I am truly happy for them.
Re: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?
I'm just saying that everyone is different and there could be a good reason why someone decides to pay extra. Or, they could be an idiot. Maybe they are actually poor and had to shop at Amazon because of a gift card someone had given them. I'm not patronizing you at all.Ziggy587 wrote:You're the one that's always siding with what you think is right, just, fair and whatnot. What planet are you on man? Between this comment all your Japan lusting you should just pack your bags. I'm serious. I'm not trying to be a crude arse.Inazuma wrote:I bought it and never played it. (>_<)
I brought my Wii and 4 controllers to play this game with family at a recent gathering, but they all wanted to watch American football instead. (>_<)
