I don't think the next XBOX or PS4 will be out for a while, so I think it's just about right. I think it's too early for a new PS4 or new XBOX right now but after a year or year and a half it's just about due time.

I don't have a strong opinion either way. On one hand, I like to see video games improving thanks to new hardware, but on the other hand, I am fine with playing last gen stuff (Wii).
It will be nice to have Nintendo games in HD, so I am looking forward to the Wii U, but that's about it. I wish less video games came out. I can't even begin to come anywhere close to keeping up with everything.

If the new Sony and Microsoft consoles come out in 2013 I probably won't actually be purchasing them until 2015-2016. Launch prices are insane.
The thought of NEW CONSOLES doesn't excite me, at least not until I know what types of games will be available. "Better graphics" doesn't do much for me, as I already believe graphics peaked with the SNES and Saturn. Plus, I fear that most future software will be download only (or contain copious amounts of DLC) and will be crippled by DRM.
From a collector/consumer standpoint, I'm certainly not ready as I only own a handful of current gen games. I've probably only played my Xbox 360 for a total of 20 hours.

Skimmed the thread and I'm basically with most of you guys. I'm not ready or interested honestly. Haven't had money for awhile so I'm already behind with this gen as it is, and even if I did have a lot of money I'd still say the same exact thing. There's still plenty of games this gen that I need to hit up and get to, so I'm really in no rush at all.
Now maybe I can get one of them or so for Christmas or something like that eventually haha, but yeah I'm not dropping several hundred bucks on another console anytime soon.

I'm still catching up on my original PlayStation games. I don't really care if the Xbox 1080 is announced tomorrow.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

I just don't see how a little better hardware can make games a lot better. For the first time the new machines won't be like 10 times stronger than the previous ones. I believe the life expectancy of current gen consoles can (if it hasn't already been) extended with software updates. We already have hard drives in our consoles....the only thing that can improve them is more openness. A console 2.0 if you will.

They will be 10x as powerful. Figuring that today's PC hardware will be cheap, small, and cool enough to throw into a console in about a year or two.
Older. Not wiser.

But will it really mean anything? Speaking from purely a gameplay standpoint, there's been very few games this generation that wouldn't have been possible last generation.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:ActuallyZeroAX wrote:I just don't see how a little better hardware can make games a lot better. Re: I'm really not ready for another console generation.
2 problems. The strong yen will make the probability of the PC hardware parts falling in price unlikely. And second, those beastly computer parts will never fit inside a console. And I don't think MS and Sony want another RROD YLOD fiasco. Then again judging by how big suckers/idiots/morons we gamers have been by accepting lower reliability from one gen to the other as something normal, they might just not care about it.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Actually

This is how I have been felling lately. I still need to play some great games from the past three decades.Inazuma wrote: I wish less video games came out. I can't even begin to come anywhere close to keeping up with everything.
