A little late to the thread, but I have had no regrets for my Dreamcast at all. Pretty much built a collection out of used games and Ebay buys, same goes for the accessories.

I have 4 VMUs, in red blue yellow and green. If you have a lot of games, you'll need em (Keep in mind any sports title will need nearly a whole VMU for season data, etc.)

Only deal with Ebay sellers that are reputable and have good pictures of the merchandise. Also make sure the discs are in good shape -- any big scratches will render a disc unreadable!

VGA box is easy to do and has beautiful graphics, but I use an S-Video for mine and its great on the TV that way too.

You'll want at least 2 controllers, if not for memory card management like me

Games? Anything at all really, if it's a SEGA arcade port, chances are it's going to be good.

Just got Confidential Mission today off Ebay and it plays just like I expected it to. Just need to find me a Dream Blaster light gun.

Enjoy games with DC!

give me one good reason why i should even consider these as top priority......
Because if you decide later on that you want them, you'll have to play through your library again to get the full experience out of your games.

How are the first party jump packs? I have a third party (agetec I think) one and it hangs out the top of the vmu slot making the weight distribution of the controller weird, and the vibration isn't very good. Never had an official one though.

I have a Sega Jump Pack -- it's good build, solid, locks in and releases easily, and shakes very well. I wouldn't go third party on DC stuff -- too risky, especially VMUs and jump packs

As loud as the DC is, I think it just adds to the charm. Sounds like my old 2X CD-ROM drive from 1994

I have 2, the official one and an interact brand one. The interact has a much harder vibration than the official one, and sticks out a bit more (they both stick out of the controller). One thing though is that neither of them feel like any other controller I have used with vibration, its very rough for both of them not bad, just different.

I have to fold up a piece of paper with my interact rumble packs, the Sega made ones fit and don't make any annoying sounds (to me). I do have several third party VMUs though and none have lost any saves so far. My main VMU is a former Lik Sang one (Sony Sucks) with four pages, it still works like a charm.
