I have no idea how good this game is, but it was my first and only experience with the 3DS. I had heard all the bad stuff about the 3D, but I was able to see the 3D effect right away and playing for around 20 minutes had no detrimental effect on my eyes or brain. I tinkered with the 3D slider, but the game looked bland with it off. I don't really understand how it could set someone's eyes "on fire", as it seems the worst it could do is cause you to focus "deeper" into the image. Doesn't everyone do that on a regular basis? For example, you are sitting there at the dinner table and someone is talking about boring stuff and you are looking "through" them?

I am one of those people who could instantly see the "magic eye" paintings. It just seems like once you get it, you always get it.

It varies from game to game, and from person to person. For me, most of the time the 3D effect doesn't add anything to the game and only makes it harder to see and play, so I end up turning it completely off.

Sometimes when I play Pilotwings Resort, I will have the 3D on about halfway or less because it works fairly well and helps a little. I haven't played Super Mario 3D Land yet, but from what I heard it is the best use of 3D so far.

I just wish the sweet spot for 3D was bigger. Even when it works good, it is way too easy to move slightly and break it. Hopefully they can improve this with the 3DS LL next year.

I don't know. I was guessing.

If you look back the history of Nintendo handhelds, it seems very likely. The 3DS really needs it too. I think there is an good chance of a new 3DS model in 2012.

Game Boy (Pocket, Light, Color)
Game Boy Advance (SP frontlight, SP backlight, Micro)
Nintendo DS (Lite, DSi, DSi LL)

That's 12 handhelds in total; the more recent ones coming out every year or so.

I just noticed that each major generation of Nintendo handhelds had a total of 4 models. Will the 3DS follow in their footsteps?

Oh, almost forgot about the Virtual Boy. It's kinda sad it was such a massive failure. Future models would have been really cool. They would have added color, and maybe made it smaller and easier to use. >_>

not to be that guy, but GBC is not just a revision of GB. It's a separate system.

I tried this out in a store....sigh....ok guys I'm not trying to troll but this is my opinion so please don't attack me.

I'm an avid Mario fan since the age of freaking 6. I loved all his platform games (heck even the spin offs ranged from excellent (Kart) to at least fun (Party) ) up to Super Mario Galaxy.

And the Super Mario Land series hold a VERY special place in my gamer heart. Super Mario Land 2 alone made me love video games. And I loved that they were 3 games, which had many things similar, yet at the same time were very different and unique (and of course they were also really fun. Not different just to be different)

So when I saw that a game which had the Land name on its title was such a rehash of the previous galaxy games I was disappointed. I know people didn't like Sunshine, but at least it tried something new. With Super Mario Galaxy 2, and now this game, for the first time ever Nintendo isn't moving forward with the Mario franchise. (I forgave the NSMB series, cause the DS one was the first 2D Mario game in 14 years, and the Wii version copied 4 player co-op from LBP, so it at least added something).

The game isn't anything new, the run button for 3D is dumb, specially since "push control stick little to walk and a lot to run" is one of the best things about control sticks, and in general there was nothing I've never seen before here. I hope Nintendo stops milking the Mario franchise and goes back to releasing a masterpiece on every gen. A masterpiece which holds its own. Cause no matter what they say about Sunshine, at least it too was unique. Can't say that for SMG2 :(

Yeah, I know. Even though it's a minor upgrade, some GBC games won't run on the original Game Boy.

You could make the same argument for the DSi compared to the DS. I recently downloaded that free Zelda 4 Swords game on my DSis, but couldn't do it for the original DS models.

yup. Though I guess NSMBWii gave you more ways to screw with the other players, though if you've played as much LBP as me you know how easy it is to screw your fellow players in that game as well
