Best Mega Man game?
Re: Best Mega Man game?
Mega Man X1, no contest.
Music, Nostalgia, Easy = lots of replay value, they did it right the first time for this series and went down hill from there, at least once they got to the PS2.

PS1 was 32bit.noiseredux wrote:X1 and X4 are my two favorites of the X series, but I find X a little more balanced. That is -- in X4 if you know which weapon to use against a boss, it's a joke. There's almost no way they can hit you. So in a sense, X1 is just not as broken. But X4 is brilliant in bringing the X series to 128bit and making it beautiful and huge and hilarious and awesome. I love it.brunoafh wrote:X1 fans, describe how it's superior to X4? X4 seems like a grand evolution to the SNES games in every single way to me, so I'm very eager to hear why you and others hold the original in such high regard? It's not that I wish to argue, it's just such a popular opinion that X1 is the best, and I just can't see it, so I would honestly enjoy to hear some detailed explanation.

Mega Man X7 is the one that's running on 128bits or 64? How many bits did the PS2 have?Xeogred wrote:PS1 was 32bit.

Re: Best Mega Man game?
I would have to say my favorite was the original Mega Man.
I got that game for my original NES during a time where I, or my family, could only afford one or two games a year. Some guy at school was selling off his NES collection and I got MM for cheap. I played that game over and over again. The game may not have been the greatest of all the MM games, but I played it to death and have very fond memories of it.

I have fond memories for the same reason. I'm in that group that actually played MM1 first which is apparently out of the norm. Though I did like 2 and 3 better when they materialized.SpaceBooger wrote:I would have to say my favorite was the original Mega Man.

The original Mega Man is probably tied with Mega Man 2 for me, right after Mega Man X and right before Mega Man X4. Cut Man's stage's music and patterns are forever engrained in my head: perhaps my favorite song from the NES series.SpaceBooger wrote:I would have to say my favorite was the original Mega Man.

Mega Man 2 is the best, but Mega Man 3 is my favorite, Mega Man 8 is a close second.

Yeah, I was one that started with 2. Whenever my grandparents rented games for me as a kid, I don't think I ever once saw Megaman 1. It was usually Megaman 2-4, rarely saw 5 and eventually I actually owned 6.noiseredux wrote:I have fond memories for the same reason. So it's weird to say being such a huge fan, but I'm not very familiar with the original Megaman. I think I've probably only beaten it once or twice. Still great stuff and one I should play more. It had some cool levels and the design felt a bit different than most of the later games, like I remember a lot of the levels being really vertical based... also can't forget that damn Yellow Devil!
