This post could be in two threads, but I watched Mary Poppins over the weekend, and it holds up well. Now I think prescription drugs are just as bad as illegal drugs (I do take albuterol when needed) and I don't do drugs, but either I'm reading too much into the movie or there are obvious references to marijuana in the movie. Probably the former.

The entire "I'm high, laughing, and do not want to come down" scene stands out, as does the "high as a kite" makes the Father happy for once scene.

But hey, it's a kids movie and kids should watch it. It's dumb, silly, and entertaining beyond its time. Plus, it has a song about the Father who drinks in almost every scene, and has a drink of sherry and a smoke at precisely six-o-two.

That said, I love the vernacular in this movie, and I'm making it an issue to include such phrases in my everyday dialogues:

I think the director's cut took it out and replaced it with a different line, just like how they changed the ending (S Mart ending vs stuck in the future ending) and some other things
