Went a little overboard - advice on downsizing?
Re: Went a little overboard - advice on downsizing?
Just keep the games you really care about, if you're not gonna play it it's a bit of a waste if you ask me. Other peolple could be playing that game while it's there with dust. I use too have a mario party (1 & 2 actually) for the N64 and i sell it and i have no regrets.

I sold a copy of Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt for NES and I regret it everyday.

i feel exactly the opposite i spent my time and my $$ getting these games togather why should some one else have them...i plan on handing my collection down to my kids some day (and i have stuff as old as a TI 99/4A CIB documentation packaging and all in fair shape for its age in my opinion) i want them to pick up with there "next gen" systems as well as have respect for the older onesDamm64 wrote:if you're not gonna play it it's a bit of a waste if you ask me
on the other hand there are some games i have eliminated in my collection that were just terrible point blank (brothers in arms hells highway and the umbrella chronicles RE game OMG what wastes of money) but if i value a game or have intention to play it or know the game its self has value or even bought it with my $ and hated it (im sitting on a copy of fallout 3 CE i HATED that game couldnt stand to play it more than 2hrs than id fall asleep) im going to keep said game
than again this is all opinion based and how we feel about our collections/games
Re: Went a little overboard - advice on downsizing?
I can't imagine getting rid of ANY of my games/consoles for the sole purpose of downsizing... personally I don't understand it at all; like the amount of stuff we have triggers guilt? I wouldn't want to limit myself to only particular consoles.
In terms of systems that would "keep me busy for a long time", I think of it as having the "freedom of choice" to play from any system I'd bloody well want to despite not being able to hit *all* the good games for each one
I can totally understand needing money as a solid reason, however.

See the emulation thread for an example of the negative aspect of having too many choices:dogman91 wrote:I can't imagine getting rid of ANY of my games/consoles for the sole purpose of downsizing... personally I don't understand it at all; like the amount of stuff we have triggers guilt? Yep, read it already before. I definitely agree as I have some friends who simply load up roms in an emulator, play the first level, then close it and load up another one. It does really help you get into the game more if you can't simply load whatever you want.Zing wrote:See the emulation thread for an example of the negative aspect of having too many choices:

I have the opposite problem that actually helps out somewhat... I have a phobia of spoiling all the good games if I play them all at once (even though there are thousands out there), so I tend to hesitantly pick a game to play then get the most mileage out of it as I can before moving on... has been working out great so far!
