I'm with dsheinem here, iOS is a great gaming platform. I have a ton of games on my iPhone and iPad.
Infinity Blade, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, The Incident, Cut the Rope, Tiny Wings, DoodleJump, Pizza Boy, Pix'n Rush, Buganoids, Baseball Superstars, Zenonia, etc., are all amazing games that deserve to be played. The retro gaming crowd would especially enjoy some of these. Perhaps I'll get some short reviews up later today or tomorrow if I get the time.

Its true, buttons are better, but touch is not that bad. I wont go to buy a PSP just because i dont like the touch controls. Its fine, really. Sometimes its better like in Plants vs zombies, Angry Birds, World of Goo and point and click games like Monkey island for example.
As for shovelware I do agree, BUT that doesn't make the system any less fun. Thats like saying SNES is not good because it had 10k games of shovelware next to 500 of great games. Dont play the bad 10k play the good 500.
I really do not see what can the DS or Vita do that the iOS cant do. i think the iOS might be a little bit more powerful but I can be wrong. Difference in games is
1) on PSP games are like $20, iOS games more like $1.
2) PSP carry ur games with you, iOS games downloaded IN the device
3)PSP only play games, iOS can do anything even office work

My iphone is always slowly taking my money. I find myself playing Street Fighter iv volt/II collection or tiny wings the most. King of Fighters I is also fantastic.

My complaint about Wii is that it has almost ONLY shovelware and very low number of quality games. Lets not forget Wii games go for $50, iOS is like $1-5 and sometimes free on some celebrations!
I am more likely to buy a game for $1-5 even if its mediocre over $50 games. Ex I got World of Goo for $1 while on Wii its 1500 points which is $15 I believe?(not that World of Goo is mediocre)

The difference is that most people usually research games when they cost $30-$50 (like the Wii) but don't when they get an iOS game (which is typically an impulse purchase). Therefore, combining the impulse nature of iOS game buying with the ridiculous amount of shovelware it has, it is MUCH RISKIER buying an iOS game than a Wii game.

I don't know about that. Many games have a free or Lite edition where you can try it out before buying. Number one is probably a decent number; let's say 60%. Number two is less likely, considering all the games out there; let's say 20% (which is probably a bit high). So overall, that would mean 12% of all paid gaming is tried out beforehand. Considering the only reviews you typically have to go on are App Store reviews (which I hate relying upon because of the sheer idiocy of some people), that seems far too low.

I dunno, I never had an issue with shovelware no matter how big in number or percentage they are....sure it makes stuff cluttered , but good games will always shine. I have an issue when the system does NOT have much good games

I do agree that the review system needs to be fixed its not very helpful.
