To everyone his own dude. No one can take your retro games away from you. And thankfully many companies still make small budget games for you. You just have to look harder for them that's all. As for the hardware thing...well.....THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TOInazuma wrote: The video game industry has gotten too big, too fast. The explosion of the casual market, along with the extremely high cost of making games with cutting edge technology, has had a very noticeable negative effect.
Today's games look amazing and millions of people play them, but they just aren't as good or challenging or fun as games used to be. Shining Force III on the Saturn is a great example of the kind of game I want more of.

Re: Revised Wii system
That backwards compatibility thing really sucks, the controller thing sucks ALOT more.

Re: Revised Wii system
Well its to be expected really.
Nintendo, in the manner of wringing blood from a rock, wants every last cent they can get out of the Wii before the Wii U launches.
Cutting the production costs on a revision like this helps them, not us.
Not that there's anything wrong with it. That's business.
It doesn't matter much though. The original Wii is only getting cheaper, even new.

Meh, so in about a year nintendo will be selling no less than SEVEN systems
Old Wii, Family Wii, Wiiu, DS Lite, DSi, DSiXL, 3DS.
Oversaturation much?

How can Nintendo copy from Sony what Sony copied from Nintendo?isiolia wrote:Apparently Nintendo is taking after Sony now.
SNS-101, AKA SNES2 or SNES Jr.
Smaller SNES with downgraded features (no power light, no eject, and no support for s-video). That was in 1997.
Sony made their first downgraded miniature version of a console in 2000 with the PSOne.

How is it possible for it to not support s-video? Did it use a different a/v cord than the older model?flamepanther wrote:SNS-101, AKA SNES2 or SNES Jr.

I have a hard time considering that one a downgrade, since it looked so much better, had a system menu that wasn't butt-ugly like before, and is more durable. And what was lost, anyway? Some serial connection no one ever used?flamepanther wrote:Sony made their first downgraded miniature version of a console in 2000 with the PSOne.

Re: Revised Wii system
I think sony is the only one who managed to prolong a console's sales with improved hardware. It probably helped that their 2 first consoles had amazing games come out for them in their final years...and that the PSone and PS2 slim were actually improvements over the original hardware.
