1080i is unusable, it makes the screen jitter.

Fantastic news on the Authority VGA, i'm gonna send this one back and pick up one of them being this is not perfect.

No the images are with a VGA to Component adaptor.

Thanks for the screenshots!
The pics don't look bad, just a little border at 480p mode. I think no matter what adaptor you use, at 720p or 1080i you will be stuck with the black borders on top and bottom. To verify, test PS2 Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy which that can go all the way up to 1080i thru a direct Component connection. Both kick the 4:3 screen to widescreen mode with black bars. Same results if you set a Cable box above 480p.

Dreamcast VGA looks beautiful at 640x480 resolution on a regular computer monitor. SVideo on my HD CRT is not bad though. But how about the HD adaptor arrangement? Do you see a big improvement with the VGA to Component adaptor over SVideo. Perhaps one more screenshot with SVideo for a comparison?

If you can't return the adaptor, I might be interested.

Here's an auction link

It outputs 480p and I have been very happy with it.
Compared to the screenshots at 480p above, do you think the Audio Authority will get rid of the black border? Any improvement in detail compared to the 480p shot above? If you get the adaptor hooked up maybe a screenshot?

Already returned the adapter. For the video quality, 480P looks good over S-Video. Less color bleed. 720P looks not too good. One thing I dislike about the adapter I had is I think its doing this it shouldn't do to the video output. Lets put it this way, I plugged it into my VGA monitor and it looked smoother then with the component adapter.

From the pics, hard for me to tell if converting is worth the trouble on the HD CRT since I already have SVideo. Agree, Dreamcast 640x480 on a VGA monitor looks very clean. I suspect the WEGA won't look as good as a computer monitor. Perhaps the the conversion issue, maybe the other adaptor might work better. Please post your results of the other adaptor once you get it.

How are you working S Video for the Dreamcast - through the VGA convertor box?

I had read S-Video cables for the dreamcast are a myth without the box. Mine didn't work , that's for sure.

Untrue, I have a set of S-video cables that work fine. They say Svideo trough the box is a bit sharper tough
