Re: Idiots In Online Games
I let my XBL gold expire and didn't renew it. No longer can I stand by betrayers and assholes, hate toting hicks, homophobic slurs, and general idiocity. I cannot tell you how aggravating it is to sit back to play a game to unwind, have some ass on your own team kill you and teabag both repeatedly, but the the second you retaliate, YOU get kicked?! I eventually started to be more discriminate in my games; killing all team chat so I didn't have to hear them; play only higher level matches; only for more bored players to team kill or hack. I didn't F'ing pay to get shot through walls, or be killed by a pistol from half a map away even with full health and shields... Screw it. I never wanted to play online, I indulged some friends for a few years, but no longer...

Re: Idiots In Online Games
I mainly play mario kart wii and the conduit online. Mario Kart has the occasional hacker sending out a million blue shells and messing everything up.
The conduit is so broken on its own, most people don't bother to hack it. With a bug that lets you mix the rate of fire and clip size of one weapon with the projectile of another, why hack? People make machine gun grenade launchers all the time. And they get real annoyed if you interfere. The funny thing is some of these jokers are so bad at the game other wise that a well placed shot can easily end their barrage.

Yeah, Call of Duty is definitely not a team based game. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to the individual, but by god I often miss the days when I played Bad Company 2. That game outright forced you to act like a team.SwooshBear wrote:Yet true. I swear people only play "Team" Deathmath just for the extra XP.BoringSupreez wrote:That's sad.SwooshBear wrote:One time I was playing Modern Warfare 2 and I called in a care package. While I was waiting for it to fall, two guys on my team ran up to me. One of them pushed me into the corner I was in so I couldn't get out, while the second guy stole my care package (Which was a chopper gunner). I was super pissed, but that was the best use of teamwork I've ever seen in the game.

Yeah, some games are forced team work but it makes it more fun. And I have to ask since I just noticed, Your username is LOST related isn't it?MrEco wrote:Yeah, Call of Duty is definitely not a team based game. Yeah it is. I intentionally changed the spelling slightly for no real reason whatsoever. I guess for a sort of stylistic flare.SwooshBear wrote:Yeah, some games are forced team work but it makes it more fun. The community is actually pretty nice overall, better than other shooters. However, avoid gotfrag and the official Steam forums since they are a shithole. How is the community?
Concerning servers, try to look for ones with the default respawn times, all the good players will be there and I'm not talking about skill only.
Yes, it's a default feature of Steam.Can I have a friends list?
Preferably, it's really useful and makes your teamates trust you.Mikes?
Yes, pretty badly. The game really needs a mouse to shine, since you can't rocketjump, check your back to check for spies, hit Scouts circlestrafing you withou a controller. Will I be destroyed playing with my 360 controller? (Laptop, no real mouse...)
A normal mouse should help. I heard many good Quake players use the basic Microsoft mouse, I don't remember the name, it should be cheap.

You talk like it's some game from 1998 that no one plays online anymore. What's to stop you from playing it online again? People still play it.MrEco wrote:Yeah, Call of Duty is definitely not a team based game. Re: Idiots In Online Games
I remember having to play with a few morons over the years in online games. But I found an easy way to beat them:
Stomp them like the little shits they are.
Sure, they may bitch and moan, switch teams and try to TK you, or a variety of other odd behavior. But they tend to hate it when you prove you're better than them and then call them out on it.
Here's an example: there used to be a guy who showed up at the local gaming club to talk shit in Call of Duty 4. Now in the AUCGC shit-talking between friends is acceptable because the overall attitude is usually one of "what's the most awesome thing I can do", and folks are generally there to have fun. But not this guy. This guy instead showed up with the "I'm gonna prove I'm the best and trash talk all these guys I don't know" mentality.
The result? I got pissed with his big mouth, so I spent one game where I went hunting. Twenty knife kills in a ten minute match. He howled, frothed, and raged through the entire ordeal. He called me all kinds of names, yelled, and strung together expletives I rarely get to hear. By the end, I think he had started crying. So once the match was over, I stood up, walked over to him, grinned as I looked him in the eye, waved, and said "Knife to see you." He never came back.
Oh, and if you have to call them out in public chat, do so in a polite manner and do whatever you can to piss them off until they're screaming at you. Then patronize them. "I'm surprised your mother lets her children talk like that." "Did you learn that at middle school today?" "I remember when I was 12." "My, you have a foul mouth for a little girl." "Are you crying?" That kind of thing. It pisses some of them off to no end, and they end up really whiny. Hilarity ensues.
Oh, and never forget to do the unexpected, because sometimes you can end up doing things that are wicked cool.

Stick around would have been another good one, especially if done in an Ahnold voice.Ack wrote:The result? I got pissed with his big mouth, so I spent one game where I went hunting. But that reminds me of one time on my CS clan's server. We realized that the teams were pretty stacked; it was mostly regulars on the CT side (cs_office) and mostly new people on the Ts. So we decided to do knives only. Which worked out amazingly well until finally they wised up to our tactic and bum rushed the choke point we were using. A few rounds of that and them feeling pretty good about themselves was enough; the next round, since we were all maxed out on cash, we all purchased the M249 Para and proceeded to mow them over. After that round we went back to knives and continued to stomp them.
