He really wouldn't like the recent video of Kelly getting hit by a car!

Don't take it personally, Nathan. That thread on the Apicary shmups video quickly devolved into d-bag vs d-bag, especially with one or two guys on there trolling hard (Wenchang, Siren2011). After the second page or so, it had nothing to do with Keith Apicary and was just jerks trolling each other. I am a casual contributor to the Shmups Forum. I've been on that forum for about 12 or 13 years. The coolness vs idiocy of the users on there swings like a pendulum from year to year. It's actually gotten better than a year or so ago.

Still, from what I hear, the Neo Geo forums are far worse.

Most of my best friends are actually people I've met in the local Phoenix area through the shmups forum, and other friends of mine occasionally lurk on there. I wouldn't have known about this forum if it wasn't for one of them. So far, I haven't found any Racketboy users in the Phoenix area, unfortunately.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the Shmups site. Sure it attracts jerks and they should be quicker to ban certain users on the forums, but it has done so much to promote the game genre over the past 15+ years, and that site is the reason why people call 2d shooters "shmups." It was an old term for shooters from an '80s Amiga magazine or something, and that website resurrected the term. Now even Japanese shmup game companies call them "shmups."

Nothing against shump fans here, I have never been on the shump forum until tonight but a lot of the hardcore internet shump fans I have seen (bar 1 or 2) take those games very, very seriously, like some of them need to lay off.

Anyway great video as always the finger and lords of thunder jokes were great, it was a short episode but how far can you take a shump video now? Most people just comment on the bullet hell stuff with the hundreds of bullets on screen.

As a member of that forum, I can tell you that is not quite correct. I have actually met people from that forum in person and they were awesome. I have bought and sold items as well. Here is the REAL truth about the Neo Geo forums:

Those guys love to joke and talk shit!

The serious members have been on there for over 10 years, so if you are new and ask a stupid question of course you may have it coming haha. However, if you have a serious topic/question to ask you will find some great information. Educate yourself first, THEN join the forum and you will have a great time. As we encourage new members here, the best trick is to search through the threads before you ask something. There is a heavy knowledge on arcade cabs as much as Neo Geo, if anyone is looking for tips.

If you are sensitive and cant take sick humour at times then stay clear, otherwise hop into the Trollbox and say Hi ;)

Let's say that NG has more members than Shumps, so more "aggressive posters" are to be had. I find the threads hilarious over at NG, I love to see drama played out (little bit of a troll). Unfortunately, it's too active for me to keep up with, so I skim weekly.

Who here on RB is NOT a NG member?

As for sick humour, there is Arcade Otaku. Way too many geh jokes...and pesky english language (It took me a bit to figure out "bin". I was thinking "buy it now" instead of "trash it"). But, like NG, a wealth of info and entertainment.

I'm only on here and shmups. I figure I'll save joining NG once I finally have a neo geo console.

I actually only joined here because of the shmups forum, and the site is invaluable for its knowledge of some of the most complex games I have ever played.

I only post on two forums, including this one, and NG is not one of them.
