Gamer Tattoos?
Re: Gamer Tattoos?
Or find a reference so obscure or just plain odd that most people will have to ask you about it to find out what the hell it means.

I didn't mean to troll ya man, I love new faces around here and new interactions. I just don't see why someone in their thirties who is relatively new here is asking for advice on something that should be taken so personally. I mean, it is a life decision...plus...notice how almost every tattoo parlor now has a tattoo removal service?
And think about it: Like it or not, perception is reality. And trust me, I hate loathe and despise polos, but I wear them because I'm more than happy with my salary, and although I tried, I'm not allowed to wear ties nor suits to work.

A good point. However, I think seperation of you at work and you out of work is important.
Heck, I would never sit around my work playing my psp, even on a break. Perception is reality, as you said. However, when I get off of work, I don't care about the way people perceive me. They can think what they want, it doesn't really affect me.
So, I'd say at that age, get it someplace that you can cover it up, when professionalism is required.

Oh definitely. I usually wear a cotton t, jeans and adidas sneaks when I'm not bringing home the bacon. But even then, I like to look appropriate, and I'm not saying tattoos aren't inappropriate, I'm just saying they're a bumper sticker on your body and if you're not willing for people to prejudge you by said sticker, tough luck.
That goes with any sort of expression though. If you put it out there, don't whine when someone confronts you about it. I forget what comedian said it, but he mentioned the rainbow flag and how although it is an expression of homosexual liberation, most people see it as an expression of sexual preference. "How come I can't find a doggy style bumper sticker and express MY hetero-sexual preferences?".

I agree, I've been thinking about getting a game related tatoo but it needs to be something other than sonic/mario/something everybody will recognise. For myself it might be a design from Panzer Dragoon, a quote from Sewer Shark or No More Heroes maybe. The other thing I was thinking about was a deatheater tattoo.
@All the tattoo haters - if you dont want one fine, leave everybody else to get plastered in as much ink as they like. Its got nothing to do with you, and as for the 'how will it look when you are old' argument - it will look like I lived my life rather than fannying about worrying over pointless things.

Re: Gamer Tattoos?
Funny thing: I was looking at Panzer Dragoon Zwei for ideas.
Funnier thing: I followed the flow chart. It said "get a tat"
I was planning on getting it on my bicep or something. Currently I work for the government and theres one guy who works next to me with some serious ink and its all exposed. No one complains.
I was just trying to get some ideas maybe help formulate an idea of what I wanted. Asking about a gamer tat in a forum of gamers seemed like a good idea, but I keep forgetting that a lot of these forums nowadays are populated by kids living in their folks basements trolling for lulz. I left a few forums already because of I didnt want to hear about so and so in math class or "My mom and daddy wouldn't let me
..."
Dolphins tattoos suck...unless its one of Ecco and he's killing the Vortex.

The average poster here is in their mid 20s-early 30s I've noticed. Despite a handful of "trolling" nobody's trying to antagonize you, I'm sure. Most of the negative responses are just adults giving you their perspective.
It's the sort of response you'd get anywhere about any tattoo really aside from a tattoo-related forum.
Anyhow, hope you didn't get the wrong impression from this thread and I hope you stick around. It's definitely one of the most mature gaming communities I can think of.
