Sort of but not really. It's best that you don't think about that though and just accept that if it's got a HDMI port then it's going to work. Period.theclaw wrote:I think if I'm understanding you, what you're saying implies PS3 games always output 60hz at HD resolutions, all titles have properly coded 60hz support (no 60hz-specific issues), and all HDMI equipped displays accept 60hz input correct.
Really? That'd be a major step toward the level of standardization PC games enjoy.
Can someone confirm that the PS3 is indeed Region Free?

If that's the case, then why did you buy both a U.S. and Japanese PS3?hashiriya1 wrote:I have a JPN PS3 and a US PS3. All of my JPN games work on the US model, and all of my US games work on the JP model. Never tried PAL games.

PC game users rarely encounter the particular kind of issue like bad conversions to PAL. Handhelds even less so, as their screens are self-contained and by nature almost always keep the same display format worldwide.MrPopo wrote:<looks at the video options of a random FPS>theclaw wrote:Really? I personally want to get a Japanese PS3 myself, assuming I can get a Backwards Compatible model. I have a ton of PS1 and PS2 JP games, and it would be nice to not have to play them on a shoddy PS1 emulator or use Swap Magic on my PS2.BurningDoom wrote:If that's the case, then why did you buy both a U.S. and Japanese PS3?hashiriya1 wrote:I have a JPN PS3 and a US PS3. Okay, that makes sense then. It plays Japanese PS3 games, but not Japanese PS1 & PS2 games. I read that on this thread, but my brain just didn't put 2 and 2 together there.the7k wrote:I personally want to get a Japanese PS3 myself, assuming I can get a Backwards Compatible model. Would probably be cheaper just to buy a Japanese PS2, no?the7k wrote:I personally want to get a Japanese PS3 myself, assuming I can get a Backwards Compatible model.
