I haven't cared to shop at Gamestop in years, so no big deal to me.
I'll never forget one of the last few times I shopped at the local one around here, there was this utterly obnoxious employee that insisted he open my brand new Mega Man ZX game to play it because it was apparently the last one in the store. I was so baffled by the question I can't even remember if I said anything, but he went ahead and opened it and played it for awhile before giving it to me. My-newly-bought, now-opened-by-someone-else game. Awesome.
I stopped caring around that point.

I know I'd bitch about Hollywood Video or GameCrazy.gtmtnbiker wrote:noiseredux wrote:I'm really happy about the direction of this thread. If there's one thing Racketboy needs, it's a dedicated thread where we talk about how bad Gamestop is.
If we didn't have gamestop around, I wonder who we would be complaining about? Probably Sony would be next in line.
Wow. I've never heard of that before. Hope that guy got fired. Or punched in the face.Ryvius wrote:...there was this utterly obnoxious employee that insisted he open my brand new Mega Man ZX game to play it because it was apparently the last one in the store. ...but he went ahead and opened it and played it for awhile before giving it to me.

I second that.. WHAT?? Can you explain that a bit more? Wtf happened? Are you saying you bought a new game, he took it out, said awesome, opened it and played it right in front of you?? wtf? I dont even buy guts. I cant count the number of times ive gone to buy a new game in the past when i actually shopped there and they would just go and grab the gut and start packaging it. WHen i ask if they have a REAL new copy they get all confused or upset and claim that those are brand new..Opa Opa wrote:Wait...What?!?!?!Ryvius wrote:I haven't cared to shop at Gamestop in years, so no big deal to me.

ya.... an open game with stickers all over it is brand new, right
I cant understand why youd let someone open an actual sealed game you just bought o_O

Not going to happen, at least for several months. They will simply stop taking those games for trade in on that date. I was around and watched the phase out of Gameboy/Gameboy Color and Xbox very closely when they happened. Here is what happened:BlackDS wrote:I can't wait to go in on 4/3 to get games 80% off.
Gameboy phase out:
They stopped taking in games on a certain date and started went to about 30%, 40, 50, ect all the way up to about 80% off. There was probably about 2 months in between each drop. I snagged about 30-40 games in that final 80% off phase and my Edge card pushed it further down. Most games were $1 to 2 each. It was awesome, there was a thread on cheapassgamer.com of people just trading their duplicates for games they wanted. Everyone made out like bandits. Metal Gears, Resident Evil Gaidens, Shantaes, Pokemons, Donkey Kong Lands; lots of good stuff found homes.
Xbox on the other hand was a travesty.
They advertised the date they would stop taking in the games for trade. The day came and went and no sales happened. After a few weeks, they did a buy 2 get 1 free sale and later it went to buy 1 get 2 free. That was pretty terrible because, you would usually only find one good pricey/half good game per store and the rest was a sea of crap. My store had a disc only copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for $35 and a bunch of crappy sports titles I had no interest in. Not much of a deal. I waited and waited for a better deal and it never came. In the end they didn't clearance out the games, they just sent them back to corporate headquarters to sell in their online store. I wouldn't buy from there, you can be guaranteed all those games are scratched up disc only without box and manual. What a waste...

That's pretty funny because I was in the mall today and saw that sign. Ironically, I went to the mall to check out the EB and Gamestop and neither one had any GBA or GC games, which was one of the reasons I went there.

Well, that settles it. I guess I'm going to Gamestop to see if I can stock up before they get rid of all the GBA and Gamecube games. Thankfully there's a Play N' Trade around here that'll carry them after Gamestop decides not to
