My girlfriend would be better at answering this question, she moved all around the country in her 20's and met lots of interesting people. For example, she dated the main guy in Entourage (Adrian Grenier; thank you, Wikipedia).

I have a couple of friends (they're more my parents friends, though I've enjoyed hanging out with them, too) who were formerly opera stars in Austria.
My mom was friends with the mother and my younger sister was friends with the daughters (I was merely an acquaintance) of a family whose children have gone on to be fairly well-known regionally as a violin quartet. I don't know if they really count as "big" yet, but how big can a violin quartet in the southeastern US get?
I never met the man personally, but in tenth grade I used to eat lunch with the son of the then-governor of New York.
Again, I haven't met the man personally, by my older sister used to work for the current governor of Alabama in his dermatology office.
I have a childhood friend who was semi-famous as an internet celebrity for a while. He put out something called "Wiki Scanner" and Stephen Colbert talked about him on his show.
So, I guess the answer to the thread topic question is "no." The above are probably as close as I come.

Likewise, my friend was all over Pitchfork a month ago. Twin Shadows. His album got pretty decent reviews.
Also, if anyone remembers the original "take a picture of myself for 1 year" and post it on youtube video that was famous. One of my friends (from the band Slingshot Dakota) wrote the song from it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B26asyGKDo
Friend of mine used to be an editor for this magazine about electric-powered rats. Friend's roommate had his own sitcom about how crappy his week was. An old classmate is now the HR guy at some fruit company. An underclassman helped create some knock-off web-site, but now spends most of his free time tackling DDoS attacks on it.
Wow. Most of this is quite old. Makes me realize I haven't talked to them in a while.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis. Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
