Nah, on the contrary I believe the market will change for the better. Some shallow game designers will keep on trying to have the prettiest graphics out there, but they will be the exception. On the other hand I can see many games that emphasize good gameplay and low tech graphics becoming big cult or even mainstream hits.
To tell the truth, I just wish the graphics whore market will die already. I hate it that more people have watched Avatar and Star Wars than The Godfather, and I hate it that more people have played CoD than Half Life 2.

I hope it does crash and I won't be surprised when it does.

Why the fuck would you want that?Para wrote:I hope it does crash and I won't be surprised when it does.
Re: Another Videogame Crash
I have most of the video games I want. I spend all my gaming time playing mostly retro games anyways. I don't give a shit about all the crappy shovelware and mediocre games coming out.
The gaming industry isn't going to just magically fix itself on its own.

Re: Another Videogame Crash
I don't foresee the video game market crashing for a few reasons.
1) shovel ware sells, maybe not to people on Racketboy, but little kids like playing games based on their favorite tv shows and movies. The quality of the game is irrelevant.
2) Big corporations like EA and Rockstar will continue to sell game to the masses. Sports games, FPS's and other big budget and super mainstream games will appeal to the masses.
3) Video games are beginning to eclipse movies in terms or sales.
People also like an evolution in technology. The masses will be very interested in the next gen since they want their sports games and FPS's.
