why did you originally join racketboy?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I was looking for some retro articles. Then after reading the ones on the site I started browsing the forum. The rampant civility was a huge turn off, and intelligent conversations almost sealed the deal on keeping me away, but I stayed anyway. I'm growing accustomed to it.

Also known as: 100x better than GameFAQs

I dont know how I originally found the site actually. I think I just stumbled upon it while looking for a Sega Saturn mod chip. I started reading the articles and browsing the forums. I think thats about the whole story.

Great community here, Ill say that. I also enjoy the fact that just about everyone seems knowledgeable about the games they love.

I originally started coming here because I found the articles on Racketboy while searching for various videogame things on google. The articles were interesting, and I started coming regularly to see if any new articles had been posted. I also looked at the forums occasionaly, and after 6 months of lurking, I joined.

I joined because it had interesting discussions I wanted to be able to join in on. This site has much better users than the average videogame website does, like Gamefaqs or IGN. And for the most part, we don't post the same topics over and over again like many forum users do. "Hey hey! your top 10 games!" "wuts ur favrite system?" "360 suxs lol1!

That's why I said "for the most part." I know we do it sometimes, but nowhere near as often as Gamefaqs.

It was a thread over at the Gamespot Legacy Forums, for me. One of you guys were having a LONG discussion with our resident hard-head, TrueMagus, about blowing into game cartridges. This site was mentioned. So I checked out your site, and I liked it. Now here I am.

I believe it was when I googled "best Dreamcast games" shortly after my purchase of a Sega Dreamcast. I was lurking for several months before I joined.

This is pretty much how I ended up here but it was my Sega Master System rather than Dreamcast.

Pretty sure I found it like that too. No idea what system, but I joined shortly after buying a whole bunch of old consoles, including the NES, SMS, Virtual Boy, CD-i and Dreamcast

I finally bought a backup capable Dreamcast and I was referred here by the Dreamcast Junkyard via an article praising the VGA boxes. After poking around the articles I decided to check out the forum as my other regulars were mostly fizzled out and dead. I immediately noticed that I'd been here many times before via Google searches mostly for game recommendation lists and tech help. I lurked for a couple weeks reading through the archives and just jumped in.
