$250 bucks doesn't seem that bad. It's kind of a shame that you get two preloaded games (which probably are going to be mediocre at best) whereas the launch of the DS had a demo for Metroid Prime Hunters AND (I think) Super Mario 64 DS as a pack in. Kind of a let down there, but not for Nintendo because most likely people will be buying Zelda, Kid Icarus, and Pilotwings on launch day.

So I'm going to be one of those 16 year olds that say "Hey mom, I don't want a car for my sweet 16, I just want a 3DS". Ooooh this is going to be epic.

The refined friend code system is an improvement, but not by much. I would've preferred usernames, but it's totally fine.

The only let down on the console is a possible region lock. Come on now, what's the point in that?
I dunno about the US, but Mario 64 DS was a standalone game here. The only pack-in game was the Metroid Hunters demo.

SM64 wasn't a pack-in title for around six months after its release; it was MPH: First Hunt instead.

I'm glad I waited. :D

I knew Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt was a pack in, I just remember getting my DS with Mario 64, but it was back at launch so my memory is kinda hazy. Either way, I still would've preferred a cart based pack in, personally.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

It's backwards-compatible with all DS games. There's your cartridge pack-in! :P

That region lock is the only thing that I really hate about the 3DS at this point. The thought of not bein able to play Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 3[D] or Tales of the Abyss 3D makes me very sad. :(

That doesn't bother me as much as the idea of 3 hours play time for 3.5 hours charging. That means that even if I plug in when I'm low on power, my 3DS might still die ¬_¬

No, if you plug in when you're low on power it switches fully on to wall power. I suspect you just wouldn't get any charging happen when plugging in.

Which is still a shame, because my DS does when its plugged in and I'm playing it. I'll live though, it's not like I play my DS outside of the house all that much anyhow.

So, any Europeans/Japanese thinking of importing the American version?
If it wasn't for the warranty being kind of void in a different country, I wouldn't even think about it (70€ less, plus they get the English versions of the Japanese games way before us)
