So glad that someone mentioned this game - it's a classic that is still worth playing, doubly so if you are going to compete against friends.

There is a neat revival version available on WiiWare called "Driift Mania" that will bring back a lot of nostalgic feelings, but is basically designed for multi-player gaming only. If you have friends interested in arcade racing then it's a blast.

Burnout 3. This game is incredibly addictive and kind of opened the doors for me getting into racing games.

It seems the OP has stopped checking his topic for quite some time now.

Anyway just wanted to add that the PC version of Outrun 2006 doesn't support force feedback. The engine is optimised but the missing features are bothersome.

It doesn't? Ouch that's a shame! What features are missing other than the rain?

For the N64, I discovered a fun gem called Beetle Adventure Racing. The maps are pretty long with multiple routes, there's nitro boosts and crap everywhere, and overall it surprised me how good it was. Hope you like Volkswagen Beetles though.

I don't know frankly because I favour the PSP version.

Anyone else agrees that most driving wheels, unlike other peripherals like flight and arcade sticks, actually decrease player efficiency? I'm struggling with settings and even so I can't get as handy as an analog stick or even the keyboard! Does it take something like the premium-priced G27 to get anywhere with those games? And let's not talk about Codemasters' deliberately broken support for Logitech wheels.

The other thing I lament is the blatant lack of vehicular combat games. Image

I'm glad I'm not the only one who like this game.

Well since this topic has kept going I'll add NFS Hot Pursuit. It ditches the scantly clad women and the bling-bling bullshit of the Underground-era NFS's and returns to the series roots thanks to Criterion's top-notch programming. One thing that annoys me is the game's insistence to keep pushing Autolog on the player. Otherwise a top notch product.
