I feel like in the US the best TV one can ask for Retro gaming is a Widescreen (with the ability to display 4:3 without stretching) Standard Definition CRT TV. That way you can enjoy 4:3 games, those 16:9 games that do exist, and you can still use light guns. Preferably they should have at least 2 s-video ports and a separate dedicated composite port. A component port is nice too.

Component port is a must especially for hooking up things via RGB and converting them to Component. You can convert it to S-video, but component is a must.
