Yeah, well... I'll tell you one thing that the Mortal Kombat series has always had that Street Fighter will never have - a decent story.

Nobody really gives a shit about the stories behind the Street Fighter characters and whatnot. Whereas, the MK characters and MK worlds - Netherrealm, Earthrealm, Outworld - actually have interesting mythological stuff behind them, which I think is why Hollywood was able to make a successful Mortal Kombat movie out of it, and that the MK team was able to develop a couple successful offshoot games like "MK: Shaolin Monks" and "Konquest" in MK Deception (which arguably was a game in itself).

Of course, there were the shitty PS1 games MK: Mythologies and MK: Special Forces, too. But those were just poorly designed games that weren't developed by the actual MK team.

I thought Mythologies was decent, I just wish they didn't add an extra button to turn around.

That's because a majority of SF's story info was either never brought to the US or was significantly altered for no good reason.

If nobody gives a shit about the SF story, I wonder why the SFII animes and the Udon SF comic have done as well as they have?

Yeah, MK games have wicked stories to them. I found a website one day that had the entire story printed out and read through it. You understand the games much better.

If it weren't for the turn around button, it would be a very good game. It still is, if you can get around that massively annoying feature.

Back in the day, my brother and I wanted to get MKII but my mom wouldn't let us. It was too graphic, or whatever. So we got Street Fighter II Turbo instead. I did have a lot of fun playing it back when, but it was no match for MK. Eventually we bought a copy of MKII, and it's still my favorite fighting game.
