Single Avast Pro license used by 744,651 pirates

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Can't get any simpler than that.

I think that's exactly what Inazuma was / is trying to explain.
Yes! Thank you for understanding.

I'm not arguing about that, though I confess that I disagree. I'm arguing about the whole "Piracy isn't stealing" nonsense. I was also previously arguing against the silliness of an argument that compares piracy to shoplifting.

Yeah, I actually like MS's stuff -- it doesn't bog my system down either.

*slams head on desk*

The other day I downloaded 6 thousand Mega Drive roms of games I wasn't going to buy normally.

Compare that to stealing 6 thousand Mega Drive games from a brick and mortar store.

If you can't see the difference between these two things, I give up. You have a very tight grip on ignorance and nothing I can say will loosen it.

English, man. Do you speak it? Are you literate? Of course there is a difference between pirating Megadrive roms and stealing games from a store. I've said that clearly more than once on this very thread. Here is one of my posts to this thread from yesterday. I'll quote the whole thing here (and I'll even bold the relevant part, so you don't have to read as much):

Both arguments are stupid. The shoplifting argument is just a ridiculous comparison. The piracy is not theft argument is based upon the same ridiculous premise and reaches an illogical conclusion.
Other things that are different than stealing video games from a store: stealing other things from a store, stealing your sister's diary, stealing someone's identity, stealing credit card numbers, stealing you mom's car, robbing someone at gunpoint, stealing medical records, stealing academic records, stealing government secrets, stealing someone's seat in a movie theater, etc.

But these things are different than shoplifting video games, so they must not be stealing, right?

Man, every time I see Inazuma post something, it seems to be about how piracy isnt stealing, how downlaodable games suck or how stupid people are for not agreeing with him. Especially the latter.

If we want to argue about semantics of words, here is a thesaurus excerpt:
Main Entry: Piracy
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: robbery
Synonyms: bootlegging, buccaneering, commandeering, copying, freebooting, hijacking, infringement, marauding, pirating, plagiarism, rapine, stealing, swashbuckling, theft
Now I won't apply any morality here, but the words mean what they mean. No arguing about that.

The way I see it:

You download old software that a company no longer offers any method for you to pay for: That's fine. You couldn't pay for it if you wanted to.

You download software that a company still actively markets and sells: You are stealing. You are not entitled to any piece of software. You are taking something you are not entitled to.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
