We've all went on genre binges, but I doubt any one on this forum only has 1 genre of games for an entire system.

I don't think I've ever gone on a single genre binge, honestly. Maybe single game, even though that may classify as single genre.

You what? I remember getting it from Christmas and thinking of how Sonic's gone up a few notches on the bad-ass scale. Well, my youthful train of thought wouldn't had included those precise words, but yeah, bad-ass.

I get bored with any game after say, a week or so of playing and always seeking something completely different, both genre and era-wise, to play to cleanse my palette. It seems that in my "old age" I simply don't have the the attention span to play anything to death as I used to when I was a wee lad

I guess its the same situation as someone who only reads certain types of books or listens to a specific genre of music. That's a pretty shitty backlog (your friend, not you) of games. I love my fair share of FPS, but i've been able to dabble into other genres by just being a retro and current-gen gamer.

I would just let your friend bask in the glory of calling himself a hardcore gamer. Judging by your Minor Threat avatar, I think you know a thing or two a posers in punk. Same thing, let the real ones be the real ones, the posers will eventually fade into a new fad.

It's part of the whole so called "gaming addiction" with a lot of gamer. I pretty much only play platformers and RPGs. Pretty much my entire game library is filled with those kinds of games. I do mix it up with a few FPS games, but in the end once you find a genre you really like, it's hard to stop playing it. This happens with a lot of gamers.

I mentioned it before, I forget if it was this thread or not. No one seemed to agree with me. But some times I'll go on binges with video games. It can be a specific genre, or just a system binge.
