I own it. I mentioned it in an earlier post in this thread as well.
Well, the original Sonic The Hedgehog slows down on occasion, actually

Sonic 1 is not an early Genesis game.

... ... ...
Street Fighter II Turbo is closer to the arcade soundtrack on the Genesis, yes, but I always liked it better on the SNES--less tin, more texture. Anyway, once you get to Super Street Fighter II, the SNES version is closer to the arcade. Capcom had stopped using the FM synthesis and upgraded to wavetable by then.
Truth, except for calling the first SFII the Genesis got "Turbo".

Final Fight also came out for SEGA CD and it was best version compared to snes.
Mostly true. The SEGA CD version surpassed the SNES version in almost every way. On the other hand, the color depth was noticeably lower, looking flat and washed-out in comparison. I'd say the Sega CD version still wins out by a long shot, but that still makes at least one way the SNES version is better... and the music was only better on account of the pre-recorded CD audio, not the Genesis music synthesizer. Considering how much better Final Fight 2 and 3 were, I think the SNES version of part 1 was obviously just a bad, rushed port job that didn't take advantage of the console. The Sega CD version is just the opposite--a great porting effort that was limited by the constraints of the target hardware.

I just want to say it again: Final Fight 2 and 3 are awesome. So are Streets of Rage 3 and 2 (last in line because it is the best!).

Sega was always just cooler, more hip, more adult, more hardcore and more experimental than Nintendo back in those days. I'm a fanboy for the S companies(Sega and Sony)
Exactly what I dislike about Sega. The "hip, cooler" attitude is just so cheesy to me that I can't take Sega seriously. Okay, stuff like JSR and Space Channel 5 is cool, but for the most part- eh.

Then you know the crazy stuff it can do without ever resorting to extra chips!
Sonic 1 is not an early Genesis game.

It's early in terms of Genesis games that emphasize processing power. Altered Beast wasn't exactly a speed demon. Seriously, the platform basically went through a total reinvention of identity and purpose once the SNES was imminent.

I didn't say that.
You be quotin' too many people in your post.

..and, in terms of comparing the SNES to the Genesis + Sega CD, I'd say you can only compare the handful of special chip SNES games to the handful of Sega CD games. At least that would be more fair.

True that. Now I gotta go fix it...
EDIT: Fixed. I think I tried to quote it from inside another quote from someone else's post. Yeowch.

See also Space Megaforce/Super Aleste the year before.
In response to an earlier post about the Genesis making better use of layers and such. Just the first level of SMF has ground below, a waving transparent cloud layer, plus structures on the level with your ship with a ton of animated objects, ships, and projectiles flying around without a hint of slowdown.
Takes a bit to get really going, being the first level and all. (The video is a little choppy compared to the actual game)

I choose SNES without second thought. It's my second favourite console after Gameboy, it's much superior in graphics, sound and speed than Genesis, bigger variety of great games (classics ones, cult ones...), lots of well-known francises have made their debute on SNES (or have followed from NES), most of my favourite 16-bit games are on SNES...and of course it's from Nintendo which is my No1 favourite videogame publisher. Of course, I like Genesis as well since it have some great games which doesn't have SNES like Gunstar Heroes, Sonic francise, Dynamite Headdy, Monster Land IV, Aladdin, Contra Hard Corps etc.
Moreover, if a well-known game would be multi-francise like Lion King, Street Fighter etc, the SNES version would be always best (exept Mortal Kompat I which had no blood and fatalities).

Wait, speed? How? Speed is basically the only one thing that the Genesis definitely has over the SNES. I agree wholeheartedly with every other point of your post though.

I read what a lot of people have put on this forum and yes this is that age old question of the 16 bit wars snes or genesis? Well being that i'm in my thirties and i lived thru the sega vs nintendo, its really what you like to play. If you want arcade syle games and sports games go with the genesis. If you want platformers and rpg's get the snes. Both systems have great games. It's 2010 now and you can get both systems fairly cheap thru ebay or flea markets. I have both systems and i play with them both almost daily. Just get both systems and enjoy them. Now if you want to compare the games that was on both systems look on youtube and compare the game between both systems. I First would try to pick up the sega exclusives and the snes exclusives. I would also recommend going on youtube and type in the top 25 games of all time for the snes/ sega genesis and getting those titles. If your also into the fighting genre i would also pick up sf alpha 2 for the snes its not arcade perfect but if you dont have a ps1 or a saturn it's well worth it. That's what I did and yes it took almost a year to pick these games up because some are up in price but i am very happy with what i got.
