I feel the same way. Wayforward is an amazing developer and they need as much support as they can get.

The first thing I'm going to buy when I get a 3DS is Shantae: Risky's Revenge.

That's pretty much the whole reason I bought a DSi XL. Get Shantae any way you can, but I've got a friend who bought it on his 3DS but DS games just don't look quite right on the 3DS. It's hard to put my finger on it, but if I were you I'd save up and get a DSi XL instead. bigger screens, bigger stylus and DS games don't look distorted on it.

As in, a physical release? that probably will never happen. Wayforward doesn't have the kind of raw muscle when it comes to sales figures to convince publishers to put out physical versions of games developed by Wayforward featuring Wayforward IPs. Capcom took a chance on the original Shantae nine years ago, and although it is by far the best game on the GBC, it was a real bust financially, and not being able to find a publisher was the primary cause for Shantae Advance to be cancelled and abandoned. I'd love a Shantae Risky's Revenge cart as much as anyone, but again, it won't happen because no publisher is willing to take a risk on it. Thank god for DSiware or we probably would NEVER see it.

I do want the GBC game, especially with you giving it such high praise. It's fucking expensive but at least it's possible to own it.
I know exaclty how you feel because up until about two years ago I felt the exact same way. So yeah I don't mean to offend you, but man, you really need to just get over yourself. DRM will not go away and will only continue to expand in the future. It is not inconceivable to say that in another decade, all videogames will be download-only. Like it or not, its where the industry is headed and there's no stopping it.
The only thing your doing by refusing to buy Shantae 2 is robbing yourself the experience of what is easily one of the best platforming games ever made.
For the most part I agree with you and I want to fight the good fight against DRM and the digital download future too, but there are some games just too good to pass up on that are only available digitally, and Shantae is among them.
On the side of the original Shantae, the overall experience is too great to ignore due to the price. Unlike some games that are rare, Shantae is an absolute gem and will be worth whatever price you can find it for. I bought a copy for a friend last year for Christmas that cost me $120 cart only. Pricy yes, but so worth it. It's a brilliant game, and the sequel is even more so.

If you don't have a DS, I highly recommend getting a DSi XL. It's my favorite handheld. The screens are gorgeous, battery life is excellent, and you have DSiware capability.
I still do enjoy my GBA SP & PSP but the XL is my favorite. I still remember getting it by trading a gas power washer that I never used for the device and 8 games. The guy had owned it for 2 weeks and didn't have time to play. His wife wanted him to sell it and get a power washer. Win win for both of us.
I totally agree with that. The XL is by far the best version of the DS. Very large, vivid screens, awesome huge stylus, loud speakers, good battery life, DSiware, and the DSTWO flashcart. The only real negative is that the system is a bit on the heavy side, making long play sessions hard on the hands. I thought for the longest time I'd be happy just with my DS Lite, but man the difference between the models is about as pronounced as the difference between the launch GBA to the GBA SP 2.0 Backlit model. Just like night and day.
