Your ultimate opinion aside (because it's as valid as any opinion can be) but I'm going to guess...you don't own either of those two game systems do you?MrEco wrote: DS: Seems like a bit of a waste to me. 99% of it's best games are ports from older systems
Wii: Failure. No good games what so ever except for the RE4 port.
Which current system do you think has the best game library

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

WHAT.MrEco wrote: DS: Seems like a bit of a waste to me. 99% of it's best games are ports from older systems (SNES and PSOne mostly).
Let me show you a list of amazing non-ported DS games (in no particular order):
-Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (Elite Beat Agents)
-The World Ends With You
-Scribblenauts
-Pokemon 4th Generation games
-Professor Layton games
-Phoenix Wright games
-Hotel Dusk
-Metroid Prime Hunters
-Mario Kart DS
-Shin Megami Tensei games
-Infinite Space
-Nintendogs (not really my cup of tea, but it's okay)
-Brain Age games
-Advance Wars: Dual Strike
-Meteos
-GTA: Chinatown Wars
-New Super Mario Bros.
-Zelda games
-Castlevania games
That's a SHORT LIST. The DS has a ridiculous library that I can barely touch because of my limited finances. At least they'll go down when the 3DS comes out.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

Re: Which current system do you think has the best game library
That is kind of a broad statement but it holds some truth.
There are a lot of ports and remakes on the DS, and a ton of shitty games but there are some really good games too. It is impressive to see how well gaming on a handheld console is getting nowadays. Handhelds were always cool but 90% of the time you had to sacrifice a lot to get something portable but thankfully that isn't really the case anymore. Obviously technology played a huge role in this too.

Re: Which current system do you think has the best game library
I own a Wii. Bought it before I bought a PS3 and regretted it. Never bought the DS but I've played it quite a bit at friends houses. Also, as to the ports thing - You don't need to have played the DS version of (Just for example) Chrono Trigger to know that it's a port. And I didn't say the games that were DS ports were bad (In fact most of them look very good), just that I don't think the DS has enough original games that match my tastes.Flake wrote:Your ultimate opinion aside (because it's as valid as any opinion can be) but I'm going to say...you don't own either of those two game systems do you?MrEco wrote: DS: Seems like a bit of a waste to me. 99% of it's best games are ports from older systems

Re: Which current system do you think has the best game library
Let me get something straight. I don't think the DS is bad. Just not enough non-port games that fit my interests. I couldn't give a shit about GTA, Zelda or Mario Kart even if I tried. The World Ends with you looks like a very boring game despite it's interesting setting. Etc, etc...YoshiEgg25 wrote:WHAT.MrEco wrote: DS: Seems like a bit of a waste to me. 99% of it's best games are ports from older systems (SNES and PSOne mostly).

Really the only games you listed that I would find interesting are Infinite Space and the Megaten series. Like I said before though, this is only my opinion. I have the utmost respect for any gamer regardless of their game choices and favourite console.

*blink, blink*
And the xbox360 and ps3 are awash in original, ground breaking titles? The 'First Person Shooter 47: The Revenge' and '3rd Person Platformer 17: Press buttons in Sequence edition' machines?
I'll let it go. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Even this particular one.

(spills drink while reading this) Dude what? The only SNES port I can think of is Chrono Trigger. And there have been like what, 5 games ported from the N64/PSone?
The DS not having original games, is like saying the PC doesn't have good online games.

No, those are clones of Xevious.Hatta wrote:You say that like it's a bad thing. Besides, you forget all the countless Galaga clones on the 360.you take away the graphics and all you have left is countless wolfenstein 3d clones on the 360.
Galaga is a clone of Space Invaders.

No matter how you slice it unless we get some awesome titles down the line like Sakura Wars then the PS2 is already dead.
We have this as it's last mainstream bumped Christmas with a few straggler titles and then it's going to become the bargain bin console for another year or two at the absolute max. Wii, PS3 and 360 while lower in total combined number of units sold absolutely annihilated it thanks to the PS3's lack of BC and the steamroller that is Wii-mania.
But who knows it may have a comeback at some point, stranger things have happened.
