Sleep was definitely better than High on Fire.

Shame Dopesmoker won't fit on YouTube :)

Sunn O))) and Boris perfroming Altar? Live? That'd be pretty crazy to see.

I really wanted to go to Maryland Death Fest this year, and I really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to go last year. Mainly because last year had Bolt Thrower and Sigh, which are easily two of my favorite bands ever.

Maybe next year's lineup will be good and I can go to that one?

Yeah, Bolt Thrower would have been the shit to see live. I missed my chance for Boris last year when they played in Boston. Hell, I miss almost every show I want to see.

In the past month or so I missed Stormcrow, Riistetyt, Massgrave and World Burns to Death.

What's a good starting point for Bolt Thrower? I've always meant to check them out...

I would start at the beginning - In Battle There is No Law.

Realms of Chaos is good too though. I like the Warhammer art.

I'd start with War Master personally, it wasn't until then that they really defined their style.

Pabstblueribbon, do yourself a favor- If you want "heavy metal", check out Electric Wizard. That would be your genuine "heavy metal". If you're interested in this death stuff, check out Razorback Records. I can't imagine any real "heavy metal" band ever associating itself with video games...
gotta reply and say i could have called this "tech/prog/core/death.whatever. but i figured it was easier to generalize at heavy metal instead of getting to technical (seeing as this is a game board and not a music board, after all)

and anyone check out the newest Napalm death album out last year? awesome. thats been top of my list lately.

also, Electric Wizard is just too..i dunno, slow, i guess, for me? It reminds me of Black Sabbath. not something id listen to everyday. I can appriciate it for sure, but they are just not my thing. No doubt, a great band to define what Heavy Metal was. Id probably get way more into this if i was on high grade weed like their myspace says they are on hahaha.

Oddly enough, I had tickets to see Electric wizard, years ago.. shit got cancelled the day of the show. they were opening for someone, 3 Inches of Blood, i think...i was bummed.
