Re: S-video made easy on my Genesis
I had a 4:3 tv and access to the service menu so I adjusted the screen size manually to fill it up. The picture was great.

Sorry for the third degree trying to find out if the butler did it.electrochip wrote:I had a 4:3 tv and access to the service menu so I adjusted the screen size manually to fill it up. The picture was great.
Bear with me because there are expensive transcoders out there that can offer zoom. but I'm cheap cheap cheap. Can't justify 200 bucks on a basic video upgrade when S-Video looks okay, but really want that VGA signal!
Anyways, Your feelings on my Sony with no Zoom capability in the menu. Its a HD WEGA 4:3 CRT. What do you think? Full screen, partial, how much of screen used? With your TV without hitting those zoom buttons what percentage of the screen would you say was being used?

I would say 80% losing about 5% on top, bottom, left, and right side. I don't believe it was completely centered either, 99% of the TV's out there are not calibrated correctly, alot of overscan.

Husband "Honey I need to go on line for a purchase"
Wife "WHAAAAT? AGAIN!"
Husband thinking but dare not comment "You have your shoe museum."
Component adaptor, might get it after some thought.

Can't RGB be pulled off the back of the TG-16 from the giant bazillion pin connector?electrochip wrote:I have made one other cable, which works with the SMS/Gen1/Neo Geo, these mirror MONO sound since the connectors on these only ouput MONO sound. You would have to mod the SMS for stereo or use a power base converter, the Genesis and Neo Geo both have a headphone connector in front to get stereo out. I can't think of any other system that uses RGB that doesn't already have an S-Video cable. This would work with a Turbo Grafx or Turbo Duo but the system itself needs a small modification since its connector does not output RGB.

Re: S-video made easy on my Genesis
You are right, but it still requires a modification to the system. You have to pull the the RGBS,GND and 5V by soldering and cutting into the plastic to mount you're own connector. This S-Video box is for people that do not want to cut/mod their system, or want an easy trouble free S-Video solution for their system. Can't RGB be pulled off the back of the TG-16 from the giant bazillion pin connector?

$85 shipped with one connector cable for any system you want, $15 for any additional connector cable.

Does anyone want to go in for 2 with me? $50 sure beats $85 let me know.
Re: S-video made easy on my Genesis
You need to reread that post. He is quoting $85 for a box and one cable and an additional $15 for an addition cable, not an additional box.aka DaBigKahuna wrote:Does anyone want to go in for 2 with me? $50 sure beats $85 let me know.
Ow! My small intestine!
