They should have allowed mapping the buttons. How hard would it have been? Let people play how they want to. I don't have the game, but if I get it I'll use modern controls because that's what my brain is now wired for (never played very much of the original N64 game). But they should have left the legacy controls alone, or allow full mapping.

Wait this doesnt have Legacy with left trigger shoot? I was excited about this, but this is a no buy if that is the case.

OMFG how fucking hard is it to get legacy controls right? Left trigger shoot, face buttons look, left stick move and right trigger aim. This isn't fucking rocket science... I'm gonna do the trial and see what it's like.

Well Niode, its not the best option, but Hifeno, does custom controller hacking. Hard wired legacy controls and swapped triggers. Its expensive, but Ill probably send off for one in the coming weeks.

I'm going to give the trial game a whirl tonight and see if I like it. The game sounds like a steal at $10.

What control options did they end up including?

There are no legacy controls. At all.

There is 'classic' which bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual control system. (left stick move/strafe, right stick turn/look) Spartan which is basically Halo controls (I can't see any noticeable difference between this and Classic) and there is Duty Calls which I assume is Call of Duty style controls, again, I can't see any noticeable difference between this and classic.

What a joke. I simply cannot believe they have not included a legacy mode.

Having played it with the 'classic' (don't really know how they can call it classic since it's clearly a modern control system) controls. It's not too bad, it's definitely not perfect dark though and the aim is completely pointless now since there aren't separate controls for horizontal/vertical sensitivity. So in order for the game to be playable I have both the settings on 85%, but that's too sensitive for aim mode, rendering it completely useless in all weapons except sniper rifles. Buh.

The game plays very well though, very smooth 60fps and it looks nice, levels are identical to the original and aside from the controls it's a prettier Perfect Dark. Multiplayer is lag-tastic though unfortunately, deathmatch isn't too bad but counter-ops/co-ops feels weird, almost like your walking on ice all the time, there's a tonne of input-lag and it just makes it feel, weird. I can't really describe it. Hopefully this will get fixed.

Anyone know how long it typically takes for the new XBLA games to show up on Amazon? I'd rather buy the game out-right, than buy excess points through Live.
