ack, seriously, go get a job that you will hate. i work at fucking taco bell. i was jobless for at least two months and it was terrible. but it wasn't as terrible as the job i have now. it's given me motivation to search for something more fulfilling, while giving me a paycheck at the same time.

sometimes, when you're desperate, you've got to do whatever it takes. if that means working at a gas station, or working at mcdonald's, or pushing carts, then just do it. it isn't terribly hard to find a shitty job, it's hard to find a good one.

Yeah, I've gotten to that point. I've been applying to Pizza places, I'm really hoping one calls me back soon. Problem is, what with all the students where I live, it's usually pretty tough finding a job unless you know someone, and most of my friends have graduated and left.

you should be applying for at least 10 jobs a day, if you can make one of them one that you don't think you will actually hate, then go for it. it also doesn't hurt to dress up, go into a place of business without a help wanted sign, and try to sell yourself. my uncle did this and ended up landing a pretty sweet job after being laid off from AT&T.

i wish you luck, dude, but let's not have any more dick-measuring contests about who's the most poor. you know your priorities, and maintaining that kind of attitude is only gonna keep you down. gotta keep that PMA!

Same here, I worked at Taco Bell for all of two weeks when I get fired because one of the assistant managers didn't like me. (That's almost exactly what the Manager said, too.)

This has nothing to do with video games, but my Mother in law just had open heart surgery.

They're hoping to remove the breathing tube tonight too.

When we saw her in ICU, she looked pretty good, and although she didn't open her eyes, she was responsive, and kept pointing to her heart. I held back a few tears, and the wife handled it really well. I'm just so glad and relieved that she is okay. Still, it's a long road ahead. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

I have some weird hospital phobia where as soon as I enter one, I nearly pass out. I didn't have that feeling this time, so that was nice. However, I drank two sodas in one hour, and then I barfed. On the toilet seat. On the toilet tank. On the stall walls. On the floor. I think I barfed Sunkist everywhere except for on my clothes.

Nice...just...nice...

I'm glad to hear your mother-in-law is ok, and I hope she has a speedy recovery. It sounds like she's doing well.

Thanks Ack.

It's just amazing that this morning they sawed her chest open, replaced a human valve with a pig valve, and she'll be breathing on her own tonight, possibly even right now.

It's just astounding.

Think of it this way, you'll always be able to say bacon actually saved someone's life.

Here's hoping for your mom!
