I have an snes, saturn dreamcast PS1 and PS3.
I've always liked PS controllers best. fits my had best looks best and the force feedback is integrated best as it's in stereo and not a clip in extra doo dad. somehow I have a feeling by the time my battery has a problem there will be a DIY to change it out.
one thing I wish it had is a headphone mini jack.
I haven't tried it but I'm interested to try using it on my PC too.
just my opinion.
What is your favorite controller?

Re: What is your favorite controller?
The Saturns controller had the best D-pad ever made along with decent after-market controllers.
Re: What is your favorite controller?
Thank god the Saturn is beating the PS controller.

Re: What is your favorite controller?
I often wonder why Sony didn't decide to release this controller separately just to see what kind of responses it got. I was one of those people who actually liked the "Boomerang" design. I would have liked to have at least tried it out!?CRTGAMER wrote:Really means something for same controller design to hold for 15 years.Niode wrote:The battery is present in the PS3 pad. It's all the same controller anyway.
The analogue sticks were tacked on after Nintendo brought out the N64 and Sony did a 'Me too' just like they did when they tacked on rumble when Nintendo brought it out, oh yeah, and just like they tacked on motion control when Nintendo did it first. Notice a pattern here? The analogue sticks are in the wrong place. Why are they in the middle? The Xbox controller was the first controller to improve the dual analogue concept, the Gamecube perfected it. All I have to say is if the main input in your games is analogue then put the freaking analogue under your left thumb. Not to the side. The analogue was an afterthought on Sony's part and putting it there was literally the cheapest way they could get a controller out as to not make the PS1 look like 'old technology' IF Sony had done some serious R&D on their controller then they could have the best controller ever. Fact is, Sony got lazy, they simply couldn't be bothered to redesign the controller. Just look at Microsoft, they took their first controller back to the drawing board, fixed it's problems and made something even better. They then took that design and improved on it further for the 360. Nintendo spend years getting their controllers right. Then they concentrate on what hardware fits the system the best as a whole. Sony seem to think if they just brute force their way with these do-it-all systems they'll win. Which is a shame. It's probably the reason they're in last place right now.
I like the Digital pad. Very clear when you press Direction or Diagonal.
Sony tried to innovate a different controller but all the gamers screamed.
Granted this one is ridiculous but a lot of Gamers loved original design ..........
And you know what this controller would have been perfect for? Batman: Arkham Asylum!

I've argued the merits before, but my fav is def the GC controller. It just feels so good in the hands. I can see how the shoulder buttons needing to be pushed far for the click can be an annoyance for some, but for me I have never had an issue - maybe just different games we are playing. A lot of people also complain about the big green/little red button, but this has never been an issue for me. Again, maybe it's different games, but for the games I play the green button gets a lot of use and so it feels good being bigger. Also the way they are placed at an angle works for me with the base of my thumb resting comfortably on the smaller red button (might not work if it was the same size as the green as it would take up too much room) and the more unstable tip of my thumb having a bigger green button to hit. I am too tired to re read that last sentence and edit it down so please excuse its length.
My second fav is SNES - I feel it really contributed a lot to gaming controllers that came after it. not surprising as the button layout, including the shoulder buttons, work very well. The NES pad is my third favorite. It is perfect in its simplicity. I know people don't like the sharp edges, but the concave of the A and B button feels very comfortable to me. It is also so light and sleek that I feel nothing else compares.
