CDRs reflect less light back than a real pressed disc, so they're harder to read. This is why there's always discussion about tweaking the laser power in relation to mods and such and reading burned discs.

Do you know how to tweak laser power?

Every machine is different. Basically adjustments include distance laser to disc, end stops, linear tracking and most importantly laser intensity setting. Something that have to adjusted carefully or you can 'burn it up." Be carerful.

You really should sell the machine and get a Panasonic. The Goldstar is an inferior machine even if it was playing backups properly.

Is it strictly coincidence that my Goldstar that has been on amazon for sale for half a year all of a sudden sold a few hours after this thread appeared? Anyone here my customer?

i had one in my cart last night, but checked my local store and found an fz-1 and 6 loose games for 69, so i picked that up.

Agree IMGBurn a great program. Still if a burned audio CD won't play than I think that Goldstar is incapable of reading CDR's without tweaking.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a panasonic FZ-10, and have no troubles at all.

If you mean Gamename.zip (extension ZIP) then you first have to PKun-zip it. Windows XP can open Zip files, simply open and then copy to another directory. Then attempt IMGBURN to make a disc.
