Games that made you so angry you didn't finish them?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Usually once or twice a year I pull out the trilogy for the snes and beat them back to back to back. If you die during a boss battle and have to start with a weaker blaster, the game gets a lot more difficult. Hang in there Jrecee, I find them to be a lot of fun.

I'm near the last boss in God of War 2, but there's this part going down a winding staircase when it's like a marathon of baddies. I need to pick it back up over the weekend.

Blitz, The League, or any Blitz game. The alternating AI is just frustrating.

Like a few others here, frustration is more of a motivator for me. The reason JT and I can usually breeze through Ninja Gaiden isn't because it is an easy game, it's because it frustrated the hell out of us, and we had to show the game who was boss. Beating a frustrating game really gives you a better sense of accomplishment than say, beating Lego Star Wars.

Sphinx and The Cursed Mummy. Ive been playing this on the xbox. I like the idea of going back and forth playing between the two characters, and the storyline is alright, But. The puzzle solving side of this is probably the hardest Ive ever played. I keep having to refer to a Youtube walkthrough, and thats ok if it was once in awhile, but not every scene.

Bioshock. I was constantly out of life, ammo, and whatever that blue stuff was that let you shoot bees at people, et cetera, which meant constantly dying, which had no consequences other than being annoying, and constantly playing that damn Pipe Dream game.

I had this problem too. It was as almost the revival chambers were put in because of unbalancing issues.

Gex 3: Enter the Gecko. It started out strong, but slowly spiraled into a pit of frustration and annoyance. The first two were much better.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

I found Dr Robotnicks Mean Bean Machine to be incredibly frustrating. I didn't have the original but rather as part of the collection on PS3. It took forever to beat it while cheating (using the PS button in between moves) because he was so cheap at the end. I only wanted to get it for part of the platinum.

Also, playing mario kart 64 w/my gf was frustrating because of the handicapping AI. It irks me to no end that I can drive a flawless race and have Toad come pass me at the finish grrr.

Ninja Gaiden: Black (Xbox)

Those damned Spider Ninjas with their exploding darts are so cheap that I just want to take my controller and launch it right through the tv screen!

Doom 3. I got lost and no matter how many times I tried I never found the exit.

Also I got stuck at a skill plateau (Level 11 songs) at Beatmania and I barely play it now. Sucks because it's a really fun game. I just didn't feel I was able to overcome the difficulty spike, my hands got tired too fast and some of the song endings were so bullshity compared with the rest of the song that I got tired.

Ninja Gaiden games under Itagaki were pretty much the epitome of cheap. If you look up cheap in a dictionary, there should just be pictures of Ninja Gaiden games and Itagaki.

Since we brought up Bioshock, I hated two things about that game. The cheap traps(i.e.walk through a door and get blasted by hidden turret)and respawning enemies. I HATE respawning enemies...in any game. There is never ANY good reason to have respawns in a video game. It is very hard to get a sense of satisfaction from defeating your enemies in a game when they are just going to reappear in a few moments

Some people have mentioned frustration being a motivator. I guess it's an ego thing. I beaten Ninja Gaiden II twice, once on normal and once on Mentor despite having thrown every swear word I can think of at that game I kept coming back to it. And there are things about Valkyria Chronicles that royally piss me off and yet I'm still putting time into it, getting medals, beating expert level skirmishes, etc, etc. It's an obsession with completion that I often get with rpgs even when they are annoying the hell out of me

When you accept that Mario Kart 64 and up are party games and not true racing games, it becomes easier to deal with.
