everytime i see a new post about the turbografx (or neo geo) stuff i just want to dive into it even more. i'd love a pc engine (so tiny and cute!) but the whole backwards pin-set makes it unattractive. there's not an easy/not entirely difficult way to mod a japanese pc engine to play u.s. and japanese games without one of those horrid adapters that stick out nearly 10 inches, is there?
ANY BOXED vintage console is worth $30. I've sold a boxed (box in lowsy condition) Sega CD for $120.RadarScope1 wrote:So I found a boxed TG-16 today for $30. Is this worth it? I know next to nothing about this console.
I do know I've never seen any Hu-Card games in any of my local stores. I'd be scouring eBay for games if I bought this thing.

GrittyKitty,
There are two mods you can do on a US system to enable both HuCards and TurboChips to work. One is a mechanical switch that reverses the switched pins. The other is an electronic switch. They both put a switch outside the case you can use to switch regions. You can install one yourself or pay Dlite to do it over on the pcenginefx.com forums.
If you mod a Japanese system you also have to clip one pin to get around the region lockout software in US games. Japanese games don't have the region code so you don't have to snip that pin on US systems.
