This thread reminds of when Superman made Earth spin backwards to turn back time.

You ever been drinking and pass out, or as I like to call it "time travel?" You're drinking, you pass out, its next week. You're drinking, you pass out, you wake up, you're in another bar. You're drinking, you black out, you wake up, you're playing that knife game with a half-Indian somewhere in North Dakota. You're drinking, you pass out, you wake up, you're in White Castle -- working there 3 years, STILL not assistant manager. Your buddies tell you to quit, but you can't 'cause you're banging the slow girl on the fry-o-later. They say she's a little retarded, but those titties ain't retarded!

We all know time travel is possible, you just need a proper machine:

Last time I time traveled I woke up with my head in my empty fireplace. Well, empty except for the fact that my head was in it.

It's a useful tool for recording when things happened and when things will happen but there is no way to manipulate it to go back in time since there is nothing to manipulate.
Exactly! Gosh, finally someone with brains and humor to boot! thanks.
Time is not a manipulatable dimension.
I also do not believe time can even be sped up or slown down. It´s ridiculous to even begin to think that it is possible under any circumstance.
Inazuma, thank you. you tought everyone who thinks that time travel is theoretically possible. It´s not even theoretically possible.
They can write books. I´ll read those books. It will still not be possible.

Edit: Chuck Norris can travel in time by round-housing 3200 times in one minute.
If I could travel back in time I would make a shit load of money any way possible first.
Then I´d have no idea what to do like rich people in this timezone.
Buy all arcade games and cabinets. And be a famous video game icon people would respect.

Modman - it is a tshirt. I saw it at Dragoncon a few years ago and it exploded on the internet. Kinda like the Echo Base Marc Ecko shirt.

The only reason I didnt buy it is because it doesnt have HG Welles timemachine rear ending the delorean.

Mod_Man, as far as I've been able to tell in my studies, there is no objective basis to the theory that traveling at any speed will in fact propel you through time faster than everything else for the simple fact that time is not a force - like Inazuma said, it does not exist. The biggest flaw with Einstein's theories is that he accepts time as a dimensional force - there is no objective proof for this (although, of course, it is theoretically possible - as much so as any world-view may be in a philosophical sense). It may appear that TIME has an effect on our environment, or the SPACE which we live in (Einstein accepts these as the two major forces in our universe if I'm not mistaken), but really, the effects which man attributes to TIME are in fact CHANGE. A second does not pass by because time pushed the second-hand forward, merely the clockwork pulsed a second forward because it is designed to CHANGE at an accepted rate. Similarly, a building does collapse over eons of being left alone, it collapses because of entropy.

There is no objective proof to the existence of multiple dimensions, nor is there any proof of time being an actual thing in our universe - rather, it can most easily be "proved" (to the flimsy extend that anything can be objectively "proved") that the universe consists of SPACE in which things CHANGE simply because atoms are being REARRANGED.

(And as a disclaimer, I wasn't capitalizing in order to condescend - I was doing it in order to keep track of my own thoughts. Obviously, you're a man of great intelligence in order to organize such complex thoughts, thus you need not be condescended - especially since you obviously have more experience with the topic than I do. Still I wonder, how does one justify the believe in multiple dimensions or in time as a force?)

OK, I'm guessing that none of you folks have taken Physics past the college Freshman level. I guess I'm being condescending, but I would encourage deeper study on the matter, because most of what I've read on this thread is kind of misinformed. Or even just read "The Physics of Star Trek." It's pretty good.

That said, if you want to read some good time-travel based science fiction, I suggest Robert Heinlein's short story "All You Zombies" (you can find the full text online) and his novel "The Door Into Summer." They're both fun reads.

I am not aware of any current theory in Physics that would allow for stationary time travel, but I really don't know the really complicated stuff, or even much of the senior-level undergrad stuff, since that wasn't my major. However, if I could travel back in time and remain on Earth, I would probably assume a pseudonym and live my life. I kind of like the name "Warren Buffett".

If I didn't believe in God then I would believe in science,
then I probably might think I can travel in time, who says the dead can't be alive again?
But I think I will go insane, because I will fail ,

As for gaming, I will go back to play a lot of the console back in their day,
Snes, atari, Neo-Geo, N64, Saturn, PSX(I had this one) and more, I understand now that no matter what you do, its never the same taste as when its the first time out, this even applies to today's world.

Gears of War online gameplay will never be like when it first came out for example, or multiplayer halo 2.

But one thing i will do if I can , is go back in time, tell Sega to abandon the Saturn, head straight to Dreamcast. Then bash PS2 every where and praise the Dreamcast as if its a console for the next 30 years.
Its not that the PS2 is a bad console and I do not hate it, I just have a believe that ps2 killed Dreamcast and I wanted to see more Dreamcast.
