What to Do about Those Easy Games

IMO you guys are listing lots of games that are mediocre rather than good, but even so the list of bad games is much more daunting.

Seriously, you thought those beat em ups were mediocre? I'm kinda shocked, as they're all games I've really enjoyed, and most of the folks I know agree with me. TMNT arcade back in the day was awesome, and AVP 3-player ranks as my favorite arcade cabinet.

There are a lot of good points in this thread.

I obviously prefer older games to their newer counterparts, though there is normally a significant amount of challenge in quite a few modern games, which can be done through having to learn the physics of the game, or just being plain hard like Demon's soul.

I just think video games are awesome.

This is one of the things I love about Racketboy. Someone will make a claim that some system or genre sucks, then a huge ass list of great games comes up that people probably haven't even tried. Rackateers know their shit and I can almost always learn something here.

Kingdom Hearts isn't licensed, it contains licensed characters. Big difference. I'm pretty sure Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is the same in that regard.

I'm pretty sure the Kingdom Hearts games were done in cooperation with Disney, since the characters legally belong to them. Hence, licensed. I love the direction this thread has gone in. I get so mad whenever I read a review for some new licensed game like Batman:Arkham Asylum for example and you STILL have some dumbass reviewer on some site or another that starts the review with the usual, tired, cliche, "well as we all know, licensed games are always crap but this one is the exception".

Good point about SoulCalibur. But the SoulCalibur case is a lot more different from both Kingdom Hearts and M.C. Kids than they are from each other. Both Kingdom Hearts and M.C. Kids are based on existing properties.

I'm willing to bet that most people would not consider SoulCalibur IV to be a licensed game, but to do so really would not be much of a stretch at all.
