I'm not afraid of meeting people off Craigslist, but I am afraid of letting other people see all my shit in my apartment. Especially if they have some idea about my work schedule (judging from the times that I've told them that I'll be available to meet).

So most of the time I just tell the person to meet me at the Walgreens down the road from me.

But my mommy said never talk to strangers :P

Seriously though, the only times I met strangers were at a public place (starbucks or some other cafe) and/or with a friend for company and/or during the day.
I would surely never invite someone in my house while I am alone. My country has a low crime rate but I never even order delivery if I'm home alone.

I hate people in general, and I am paranoid by nature.
I don't mind meeting in a public place to trade really, but I don't like going over to houses.

If I was in America I would never do that.
My country is tiny and this might sound funny, but if you don't know one person you probably know someone who does, so its ok but I would still not go to further areas.

If I was in America or Europe, I would never , and mean never go over to a house. The countries are huge, and with millions of people, you never know who you will meet, sick people are out there. But I guess its ok if I was from a local town buying another guy, because it would be just similar to my situation here, small place, small community , and everyone knows the other.

So you automatically go in with heat? That is a little messed up.
I usually keep my side arm on me at all times.

One of my Father in laws friends had his car stolen when trying to sell it on craigs list. The guy came to test drive the car, and just took off. I told my Father in law that his friend is an idiot.

Not really, My last purchase through locals was my n64, It was an old asian guy who didn't know how to put the pieces together (Console--Cart--expansion pack--Power--TV)
The only one that concerned me was my dreamcast, he wanted me to get it from his van
I told him to meet me inside West Edmonton mall (biggest mall in Canada) Or it was no deal

To be honest I prefer face to face deals if I'm buying as I like to look things over before I buy them.

Same deal here. Unless someone HAS to see the goods in action, then I avoid visits like the plague.

I'm still spooked about the Comcast guy seeing my man lair.

Na seriously, I can understand how bad people are and why people get scared. I wont say any names to why I posted this thread....but to be 15 minutes away and trying to charge shipping just sounds...horrible.

I wouldn't be afraid if I lived in Virginia either. Now come live in Atlanta which has the highest murder rate in the country and meet on MLK blvd. or anywhere in east point, college ave.

At $5.00 shipping and he's 15 mins away, thats a 30 min round trip. On the Highway thats about 25-30 miles and in the city maybe 15-20 so you are atleast using 1 gal of gas maybe more depending on your car unless you drive a scooter. The average gas price in VA is $2.543. So its like paying at the most $2.50 extra and not having to meet up.

People like luke are the reason it seems unsafe to meet people for sales. I don't want to meet anyone carrying a gun or any weapon for that matter for a sale. If I felt I needed a weapon to be safe outside, I doubt I would ever want to go outside.

Thats the thing though, richmond 15-20 minutes means 5 miles due to the stoplights, and being that I drive a civic with not even 40,000 miles yet I still get 28-33 mpg so I wouldnt even burn a qt of a tank. So for me its wasting money honestly. If they lived WAY the hell out ok sure but I dont understand.

Richmond used to, and still does, have a REALLY bad murder rate. When you live in the country and you send good ol boys...as I call them...to a the city and they start wanting to be "hard" selling crack and what not...people get shot. But its even worse than that now that the economy has done what it apparently "had to do?" So I understand fear to a point, just not enough to miss out on a sale or trade.
