I actually did the whole spend time with family thing prior to Turkey Day. I've actually spent the last two or three hours playing Escape from Monkey Island for the first time and just stopped a few minutes ago. I've beaten the first three games this year, so now I have to get through this one and then I'll check out the new episodes from Telltale Games. It's 2 in the morning and I was going to go to bed but I checked the forum on a whim and found this topic, which I'm now responding to.

I think I'll browse the forums a bit before deciding if I should go to sleep or play some more Monkey Island

This one
I got a 16:9 Acer widescreen, shmups and 80's vertical games are better on a widescreen when rotated, horizontal games are smaller compared to a crt, but its good enough for me.

In Canada, Turkey day's long gone 'eh?
On my third beer, messing around with Little Sound DJ. Having some troubles with pitch bends, and pissed off that the WAV channel doesn't have any sort of ADSR for synthesized sounds. Probably gonna give up soon and play ZAS or continue my hardmode save of shadow of the colossus - the sand snake's being an asshole.

Good luck, do you know what your going to get? I did it one year and I felt like I was in a riot, its too chaotic for me.

This is my 4th year in a row going. I'm gonna get videogames, i'm just gonna throw as many in my cart as I can then choose which ones I want, its easier that way. Last year, I was helping my aunt get some mega blocks for her daughter, and I was getting stiff shouldered and elbowed by 60-70 year old women.

Well to be honest TATED arcade games are actually just 3:4 which is the standard 4:3 on it's side so a 16:9 monitor won't really offer any advantages for older games programmed in 4:3.

That having been said be sure to give us a blurb on that stand when you get it, I've been looking at one of those for a while for my smaller game room where space is really an issue so I'm probably going to get it if it's a quality stand.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS
