My thought process:

Hurdle #1: Do we want to move forward?

#2: Who will commit to a Con?

#3:Where will it be held?

etc.

I wanted to say Atlanta earlier, but I didn't want to sound like saying "bring it closer to me!". But yeah Atlanta has cheap ass flights and is a focal point for many flight layovers (every time I lay over it's usually in Atlanta... or up in Chicago, and that's flights I've done unrelated to Florida).

Lodging in Atlanta also isn't all that bad really. I just did a priceline search of Atlanta versus Raleigh for hotels... and they were about equal to each other in the prices returned.

Let me just say if it was in the south east (especially Georgia or Florida) I would definitely go. No bars hold. Raleigh, Charlotte, and Atlanta all sound really good in my opinion as they tend to have cheap flights and cheap lodging.

Hey guys, personally I'm also repping being a student and also currently in Connecticut. I think NC is a good neutral location, but I believe that late July into August is one of the best times as far as travel/hotel booking, and to be honest if I travelled by car, I could drive all day the day before the CON and stay overnight. It would be best for me anyways, so that's my two cents.

The RacketCon is a great idea!
Maybe in pre-booking, we could download a template to make and print out our own name badges to save some money. all there would have to be is a generic plastic name tag slip to insert said badge.

So far, NC and a weekend sometime between early July and late August seems to fit the bill.

I don't have the numbers, but if I had access to them, I'd check post counts per day to location, and see where the majority of the RacketBoy members live. Might make it easier to determine the location.

I like Atlanta or Chicago (assuming it's not cold months if in Chicago)
Waiting longer so enough planning can take place might be a good idea.

BTW, I can't say enough how much I love this community.
It's so cool that you guys are so interested in something like this :)

I would love to do something like this... but with only one income and two under 2-yrs old I can't commit until I know more.
Hell, it may be better to hold it somewhere where I can vacation with the fam a little too.. or there are always really cheap flights (and hotels) out of Akron/Canton airport in Ohio :)

Chicago is good for me, but I'll have a place to stay for free. I'd root for NC over GA too. It seems that there are a lot of NC regular posters.

I'll throw in another vote for Atlanta, and not just because I love there :)

If its anywhere in the Southeast, I could probably make it. I have friends in Raleigh, so that might work too.

If you do decide to have in in Atlanta, be careful of the timing. Dragoncon is Labor Day weekend every year, and you want to plan around that.
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

I know the event coordinator at the North Raleigh Hilton, I'll give her a call tomorrow and just ask for a ball park figure. Nothing in stone, just to get a general number and to see what is, and what is not allowed.

Yeah, I'm going to have to root for NC or some nearby location too.

I'm literally the definition of a broke, car-less cram student at the moment so I can't really afford to go anywhere further out without really stretching my budget. Then again I'm thinking of this in terms of right now, I could just start myself a RacketCON fund to save up and hope to have more than enough.
My Consoles:
